question wooden ammo box markings - identification

Just looking to find out what munitions were carried in this box? Metal catch is marked 1954

If you look at the underside of the box, you should find it has the:-

1. date of manufacture

2. maker's monogram

3. type number

I think i can make out "Shot AP/Armour percing discarding Sabbot./D.S. dont know if it helps quantity 2 box looks small for that
