matchlesswdg3 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 This title bugs me every time I read it! Trivial, maybe (note use of "maybe"!) but please change it to "I may [space] be stupid, but....". Please!:undecided: Quote
Sean N Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Or strictly speaking, "I might be stupid..." Quote
N.O.S. Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 In my case I don't think there is any no doubt whatsoever  Quote
Tony B Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 N.O.S. you can add me to that. Latest exploit, trying to start an automatic vehicle, dead! After about 5 minutes walk round the back and think, why are reversing lights on? :red: It happens to all of us, just some more than others. Quote
radiomike7 Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 OP is correct, maybe is an an adverb and means the same as perhaps. N.O.S is also correct:wave: Quote

Adrian Barrell Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I don't think ignorance of ones own language is something to be proud of. Don't worry Enigma, the average Dutch persons written and spoken English is generally better than many British people, I'm sad to say. Quote

Don't worry Enigma, the average Dutch persons written and spoken English is generally better than many British people, I'm sad to say. I was not suggesting for one moment that it was. If one looks at the smilies surely one would understand my comments were infact a little "tongue in cheek" I will however stand by my comment of this being as we all know a Military vehicle forum and not a classroom. Adrian Barrell Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Had I been answering your post directly, I would have quoted you, I was speaking in general terms. You are correct, it is just a forum. Quote
gas 44 Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Perhaps I misunderstood your first post. :undecided: However life is far too short to get too bothered about a little grammar, spelling or punctuation. Quote
Jack Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Oh, good call! Updated :-) Gary - stop being disruptive in class. Detention in the making. Quote

I left there 43 years ago.......:undecided: Aint is supposedly perfectly acceptable now The one that bugs me is the 99% "me and Mike" instead of the correct "Mike and I"...... but can't win as seems to be the script in every movie now or celebrity interview We could blame a lot of people but the bodies writing dictionaries add new rubbish every year e.g. Whilst Whitsuntiding, listening to the latest Earworm, Jack sat Havey–cavey on his favourite chair, then experienced Permadeath during a critical moment playing Age of War on his Mahoosive LCD screen. In a moment of Crony capitalism he studied his Lookbook and was happy to see his Duck face posturing in front of his Crusader tank but was concerned that this Digital footprint would be forever https://lsestockholm.wordpress.com/2015/05/12/10-new-english-words-for-2015/ Ps Twerking is the re-tensioning of tank tracks Edited September 11, 2015 by fesm_ndt Quote

However when talking about lesser items it becomes perfectly correct, 'me and my screwdriver' rather than 'my screwdriver and I'. I worry more about the apparent substitution 'of' in place of 'have'....... Quote
Chopa Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 You worry about that? "what language you speak ovar? Y'all speak murcan or what?" Quote
