Chappers
This is the first of many photo's of what I think will be a very interesting project. From what I believe these Morris LRV's are quite rare so I'm looking for as much help as I can get to help restore this vehicle back to it's original condition. If you know of anyone with Spares, Manuals, information then please let me know. I'm in need of a carb if anyone knows of one and a full engine Gasket set. The engine appears from first initial inspection to be brand new but suffering from be left to the elements, but it turns freely, all the 18mm Spark plugs have never been run .I've got 2 gearbox's and one appears also to be brand new !!!! but well have to check it over to be sure. The engine data plate say's Type E K No 59513 The data plate inside say's Car 4x4 LT recce MKII Makers No. 2480M WD No. M.5848748 Month of Supply 1944 AUG http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/552/s1030265smallkw6.th.jpg[/img] http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/1341/s1030266smallbn5.th.jpg[/img] http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/1218/s1030257smallca4.th.jpg[/img] http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/8158/s1030273smallyy2.th.jpg[/img] http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/1151/p5280099hd3.th.jpg[/img] http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/7581/p5280094uy4.th.jpg[/img] http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/7062/p5280092bj7.th.jpg[/img] http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/2231/p5280082gy9.th.jpg[/img] http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/8527/p5280078xe1.th.jpg[/img] http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/4638/p5280101ak5.th.jpg[/img] http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/3610/p5280065ci2.th.jpg[/img] http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/2591/p5280073hf0.th.jpg[/img] http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/8430/p5280075rj7.th.jpg[/img][/url
Jack
Steve this like an awesome project. Do you have any pictures/links as to what they look like as I have never seen one before. What was their purpose? Cheers Jack.

Joris
Wow, I'm guessing it will be a long project!
Rick W
That engine and gearbox look in fine fettle! We need bigger pics though please! I would be interested to see where and how the radiator is mounted, I cant imagine it would get much cooling action. The truck gets hot enough even after a few minutes, it would have been like driving an oven surrounded by the metal plate.

Rick W
http://www.rushgreenmotors.com They are south of me by about 20 miles, Hitchin, in Hertfordshire, I rang them up the other day as there was a rumour of another LRV there,(if only!) but when I rang up rumour was all it was. They did tell me they had the C8 there and what was available on it.
Degsy
Hi Chappers, if its any help Vanderveen says the engine was a 4 cylinder producing 71bhp, he lists the C8 and C9 as having a 4 cylinder producing 70bhp, I can't find any other reference to this size of engine. Is your's a Mk1 or Mk2? Good luck with the resto.
Chappers
Hi Degsy,It's a MK II 4 wheel drive version according to the Data plate.Aug 1944. The Engine is in great shape well at least the top half as that's all we've stripped to date.I'll get some more pictures up shortly. I'm off to see John Walker on Monday for some bits :-) Will keep you all posted as to the progress regards Steve .
Chappers
Here are a few photos of the Morris engine we are restoring for the Morris LRV The mice had gone for armoured houses totally cat proof. :-D http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/3917/p5280095dz9.th.jpg[/img] http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/796/p5300102zd8.th.jpg[/img] http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/372/p6010132qu0.th.jpg[/img] http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/6240/p5310126yn0.th.jpg[/img] http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/2761/p5310123cq2.th.jpg[/img] http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/9580/p5310122xp8.th.jpg[/img] http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/6850/p5310111dp2.th.jpg[/img] We gave one of our not very mechanically minded apprentices some brasso and told him to get to work cleaning the cylinder head :-D :-D 1 hour later and with sore fingers he said "it's a lot of hard work restoring these vehicles" http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/6410/p5310108hb6.th.jpg[/img] Thanks for the contacts I got from Rick I got in touch with John Walker in Nottingham and took a ride over to his place on Monday, What a great Guy,very Very knowledgable and very enthusiastic to help. He cross referenced several part numbers and sorted a load of bit's out to help with the engine rebuild. He is truly amazing the amount of information he can reel of from memory .He has a very large garage full to the limits with Gaskets and vehicle parts,It's worth giving him a ring if you ever need anything for your vehicle restoration. A very nice buy was an original interior lamp and oil filter housing. http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/4940/p6050140jp8.th.jpg[/img] http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/1543/p6050146vg2.th.jpg[/img] http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/619/p6050145yo5.th.jpg[/img] More restoration pictures to follow next week. Rick W
Just some pics of the one from Bovington for reference. I was surprised after seeing it at how small it was compared to the truck. http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o72/rik242_2006/Holupload135.jpg[/img] http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o72/rik242_2006/Holupload133.jpg[/img] http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o72/rik242_2006/Holupload134.jpg[/img]
