tyler
I find that "Halfords pre 1980 engine oil" works fine i use it in all my HMV's, and it's very good, i find it's well priced and easy to get hold of.
fv1609
The official answer (although it may not be the best answer!) is in the Servicing Schedule for Rover 1/4 to 3/4 Ton Army Code No.60957, which says it should be OMD 75. It will need 8 litres if you have an oil cooler or 6.8 litres without the cooler. OMD 75 is equivalent to SAE 10W/30 There should be a listing of military oils & their equivalents coming soon. Isn't that right Jack?
Guest matt
Hi Tyler, I have only once been in a Halfords,my nearest is a 70 mile round trip.Oh the joys of living in rural Wales! Matt.
Mike Allmey
I'm hoping that Clive's quoted 6.8 litres is near enough to my normal rule-of-thumb when changing oil, which is a 5-litre container plus 1 pint from another decanted into my old Castrol can. The Ambulance has survived ten years of my ownership by this method, so I can't be that far out...
rapier rob
Can't beat a good 20/50 although for winter use i prefer a 10/40 especially if you have an oil cooler fitted which keeps the oil much colder than it needs to be at this time of year, especially if used for short runs.
