Standing waiting for the pickup ...........Only an hour late, pickup should have been at 9.00am so at 10.00am Lee phoned the Corporal only to hear him contact the crews by radio. Here follows a short resume as Lee relayed it

"LIMA 5, LIMA 5, what is your location? "

" Not sure Corporal"

"LIMA 5, LIMA 5, thats not good enough, I repeat what is your location and estimated time of arrival?"

"Not sure Corporal and about 10 minutes"

True to their word though they turned up 10 mins after the call.

they also collected a dingo from our treasurer ( george rilon) from bisley. the Army were also supposed to collect a saracen from outside the Soldiers of Gloucester museum & drop it off at the TA centre. between us & Severnside we are trying to get it up & running ready to bring to shows and it needs a new home in order to get her sorted.

we waited for 3 hours but sadly they got lost so will be doing the move on the way back either wednesday or thursday.

i missed out on my lie in this morning & because i have to be at East Midlands Airport for a meeting on wednesday , that will be the day they choose.

thats life though

Home and safe folks! :-)

What can one say - the event of a life time and a mega-thrill and privilege to have been able to take part. OK - there were plenty of reminders of the Army policy of "hurry up and wait" - esp. on Sunday :-) - as well as how irate RSM's can get when things don't go their way (don't ask about the tracked vehicles in Wellington baracks )but not enough, no where near enough, to cause any regrets!! :-) :-) Met a LOT of new people and hopefully made a few friends in the processs :-)

Photos and - hopefully a bt of video - will follow once I've got them off the memory cards.

Back the same as Stuart but cut some Zzz's as was entirely bushed.

Was a great experience all in all and can say I was proud to have taken part in it. There were some points that we all could bitch about but that can only be expected.

That said the Essex contingent alone must have taken over 2000+ photo's between them and by the sound of it some 2 hours of video, not bad for an estimated time of 4 minutes from entering Horse Guards Parade ground and leaving it.

The photo's that will be posted will tell the tale better than words but you had to be there to see some 50 odd pieces of armour stretched out in Birdcage Walk waiting to roll onstage.

As Neil has said we met some new friends as well as caught up with old ones and I think I can say we all walked away with an inward smile knowing that we had taken part in such an event.

Until the picture call

Time for more Zzz's I think :yawn2:

There were camera's there Joris (hence I suspect the "no lights on" call) but I'm led to believe they were for a pay-to-view channel and for DVD's of the event.....

Not to mention that escorted ride through the middle of London on Saturday afternoon when we staged the vehicles from Chelsea to Wellington barracks!!

Couldn't believe it this morning - woke up at 05:30 this morning and started to roll out of bed to get ready for breakfast!! :-o

And the wife was less than impresssed to be asked for a full cooked brekkie!! :schocked:

ps - what ever any one does - DO NOT ask Lee about that bike ride on Saturday afternoon in general or about the guy on the funny 3-wheeler in particular!!!!!

Just a little snippet of video taken by my son in Neil's Stolly. Forgive quality but will give you all some idea of what it was like. :-D

Once again Neil thanks for taking Paul at such short notice.

Terrific pics Neil, did the army get the petrol for all there ???

Thanks all :-)

Re the petrol - you must be joking!!! I think they managed 4 jerry cans, 3 for the guys from Belgium and one for the Bovvy Ferret. Not an issue though as we knew this would likely be the case from day 1 of applying.
