Sylvester
Can anyone help me out?? :nut: I am looking for a couple of old Sterling SMG's....... deac or replica!! For purposes of basically eye candy for fitting in my little old Ferret!! Have trawled the web...... A bit B***** expensive!! But you would think that for a weapon that was made in such large quantities, there would be a few knocking about, or at least available in the form of a kit or somat eh? But... cant find a damn thing!! :banghead: Any help in this would be very appreciated :knockknock: All the Best Fred & Annika
Marmite!!
Expect to pay between £275-£350 for a new spec & up to £700 for an old spec, try the Gunner http://www.thegunner.net/shop/smg.htm OR IF YOU WIN THE LOTTERY.. http://leisure.uk.freeads.net/This_must_be_the_finest-139572.htm#images The only replica I know of is A PFC by MGC & they are about £750.00 http://www.modelguns.co.uk/sterling_L2A3.htm
sirhc
Crikey, I bought mine for £120 a couple of years ago! I have some brand new in the packet slings for Sterling if anyone needs one, £5 plus postage. Chris
ghasp!
There are other replicas available from the States at much cheaper prices, because (wait for it) sterling SMGs were used as blasters in the star wars films. There are a number of companies that make them of various quality, the cheapest is a vacuform twopart plastic kit at $25 from http://www.cushmanpaintball.com/Blasterreplica.html The quality of the molding isn't great though. You can get a better metal replica from Walmart for $396 http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3321589 If you search the internet for e-11 blaster there's a whole range of replicas of verious qualities and prices. With the 2-1 dollar rate you might find one that's ok. :dunno:
Dougiebarder
A new spec at Beltring was £100-about 250, and an old spec seemed to be £500+ (The £100 one was a lucky buy on my part :-D). If your feeling flush, this one is very nice :-o http://www.helstongunsmiths.com/shop/images/Picture-046.jpg http://www.helstongunsmiths.com/shop/images/Picture-047.jpg http://www.helstongunsmiths.com/shop/images/Picture-sterl.jpg From http://www.helstongunsmiths.com/fr_shop-1.html

ferret
Hi, I bought a Sterling for my Ferret last year, from Ryton Arms http://www.rytonarms.co.uk/shop/shop.php They have some Stens in stock for £130 these are a cheaper option to the Sterling but still look good in the rack. Hope this helps regards Chris
David Ives
if you havnt got one yet there is one on a sister site emlra.com for 200 pounds
ArtistsRifles
The one on emlra is the silenced version (L34A1). It would look odd/out of place in a Ferret even assuming it would fit in the racks - barrel is substantially longer. Karls Pinkie would be a more realistic home for one of these..... sas pinkie
Karls Pinkie would be a more realistic home for one of these..... by the point my Pinkie was in service I thought the M16 was the order of the day...... with the minimi as a support weapon..... It entered service in 1985!! I would havwe thought it would have looked right on a series 11a Pinkie tho!! Do let me know if I am wrong tho??? Sylvester
Cheers Andy, 8-) ...But.... The Mrs would be displaying certain parts of my anatomy from telegraph poles if I was to even think of buying anything else eh! :yawn2: I think I will keep an eye open at the show this year, and if I can... Next year I may have a go at the old engineering hobby again!! Will see what happens! :rtfm: See you at the Show Mate  Fred

The armament scenario for a typical vehicle was so flexible, even in my day, that you could be right - and so could I!! Plays hell with getting period vehicles right :-) About the only thing common was the GPMG.... Where you right is in that it was the S2a Pinkies that had the SLR boots on the wings!!! Guest Tin
Neil, I recall that the S111 also had SLR boots, one either side Mick
ArtistsRifles
You could well be right there sir. We never got the Series 3 issued to us except in lightweight/AP form so I can;t say either way. The "specialist" vehicles allocated to us were stored out in Germany (Recklinghausen IIRC??) and drawn from there as operational needs dictated. Michael0064
Has anyone an idea of when the British Army finally stopped using the Sterling? I met some soldiers in my childhood and one was armed with the weapon and would be interested to know the above!
