the_shadock
hello, is there any possibility to find the history of a tank just by knowing its wartime nickname? One of the British M4A4 Duplex Drive shermans was nicknamed "Massachusetts". I don't know much about its service with the UK, but I know that it served with the French Army in April-May, 1945 (it was delivered as a replacement tank). Would love to know more about its service with the British army. Pierre-Olivier
Adrian Barrell
Regimental naming generally followed rules, albeit sometimes very loosely! There were some regiments that used US place names and only a few that were equipped with DD tanks. I'll see what I can come up with.
