Will16
Hi guys, I recently brought a deac SLR. The one I got was great condition, bar the carrying handle! It's loose, really loose. Tilt the rifle and it swings about. Is there a way of tightening it up? I would like to replace it with a wooden handle to match the furnature in the future. Thanks, Will
Chris Hall
Is it a plastic handle and wood butt and hand guards? If it is, it sounds correct for a New Zealand pattern Lithgow made L1A1. Theres a number of ways I can think of to tighten it but it may be easier to remove it and 'adjust' the loop of the handle by gentle bending to make it act like a spring. It has the British Crows Foot Arrow however. Will try taking it off at the weekend. Thanks.
Starfire
Yep, just bend the wire loop that goes around the barrel to make it a snug fit. Australia uses a broad arrow mark for its military gear too. Cheers, Terry
Privatejoker
You need to remove the gas tube 1st then unscrew the rear guide to release the handle. What does the serial number start with, will tell you manufacturer and year.
