lightweight Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Slightly odd question, does anyone know what the Australians have been riding since the 80's?I know they had KLR250's but I've seen hints of KLR650's and even XT600's - although they don't look much like the civvie version to me. Quote

Richard Farrant Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 119 views and nobody knows? I remember riding an ex-Aussie army Suzuki when over there in late 90's, not sure of the model, not an out and out off roader either. Not sure when the BSA B40 was demobbed, they came in around 1968-70 Quote
101 Ron Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Before and during the early part of WW2 popular makes of civie bikes were impressed. The later part of WW2 WM20 BSA and WLA Harley were used.Early 1960s small number of 250cc BSAs were used( the same configuration as the later 350cc B40 BSA)used along side WLA Harley until late 1960s.From 1967 BSA 350cc B40 used( had special gearbox ratios) similar spec to British army ones used until 1975.Last of the B40s sold from army auction with parts about 1982.!974 Suzuki GS 400 used in a general service and MP version until about 1990.( the Suzuki had extra electrics and lower gear ratios than civie versions.)Yamaha XT 600 used after that, many different jap bikes used since.
