Google he say "Danger: Malware Ahead!"

Recommended Posts

Well there's a surprise. I occasionally find myself being warned by the corporate firewall about dodgy websites, but I didn't expect Google to throw this up:

Danger: Malware Ahead!

Google Chrome has blocked access to this page on hmvf.co.uk.

Content from http://www.tankmuseum.org, a known malware distributor, has been inserted into this web page. Visiting this page now is very likely to infect your computer with malware.

Malware is malicious software that causes things like identity theft, financial loss, and permanent file deletion. Learn more

Not something that I expected to see. (This was this link:

Over to you.

Chaps, not much I can do about it. The Tank Museum has landed itself on the Malware list of Google and thus images (or content) linked from the tank museum are considered dangerous by Google.

When the tank museum is no longer on the malware list the problem is solved.

Sorry for the delay on our response folks. Last week, during the night of the 29/30 Jan, our website was the victim of a highly sophisticated attack - and a number of internal links were re-routed to another (obviously dodgy) website.

This was spotted by Google within a couple of hours of the attack, at which point we were knocked off-line. But even though the problem was fixed at our end relatively quickly (that morning in fact), it took Google a while to re-instate us and re-grade our site as `safe`. There was a bit of a bureaucratic process to go through – and for that reason, certain browsers were throwing up malware warnings as late as Thursday.
