Hi

Please can anyone tell me the purpose of the small black pipe that goes from the Turbo to the top of the Cambelt housing on a land rover defender 90 xD wolf 300tdi engine.

Thanks.

I think the pipe originates from the turbo boost pressure pipe to maintain pressure within timing case housing during wading.

Thanks for the reply i think you could be right. i thought the same but its good to have another persons opinion

It looks as if it applied on to engines after 25L01943A & there is an open drain hole in the base of the cover.

The earlier engines didn't have the top pipe but in the base had an "after wading drain plug" instead.
