Hi, I have recently joined and I have just recently purchased an Austin K9 which I am doing up . I am trying to find out some info on the vehicle and wondered if anyone could help. Not sure how to add new thread so I will continue here. The vehicle is at present on a Q plate and I would like to put it on an age related plate and trying to find out the year of manufacture. I was led to believe they were only built between 1952 to1958 but DVLA tell me that I need to have proof of manufacture. There is a Ministry of Supply plate on the side and it has vehicle no. 40 BG 71 and it has class of repair date which is Base OH and then Date 1056. It also has some very old writing on the chassis which says "Scriveer Reme 1957 South Rase" I wondered if this means anything to anybody. Look forward to any replies as I would like to find out some of the history of this vehicle. Its only covered 12000 miles.

Thanks

Chris

Have you tried contacting the RLC Museum? They may have some information on it. Though I know some military spec vehicles went through Ministry of Supply to civillian research establishments such as RARDE.

Hi, Thanks for the help, regarding the MVT could you give us any help as to how I go about doing this, re finding the age of the vehicle so that I can get an age related plate.

I do have the engine no. and chassis no. and its on a V5 already but with a Q plate it was registered in 1981 but this is clearly not the year of manufacture.

Not sure if yours is an ambulance if it is, try contacting Graeme Sty of St Helier, he is in charge of the K2 Ambulance Register. k2ambulanceregister@jerseymail.co.uk.

Here you go - http://www.mvt.org.uk/verification.html

Also the RLC Museum records search is here (may be worth a try)
