Lancashirelad Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Hi All, I've looked at all the subforum titles and don't see anything that's an exact fit for this question, so I'll drop it in here. I have come across the carb sitting on a shelf in my workshop. It came from my local garage (along with a lot of other stuff) many years ago when they sold up for modernisation to a 24hr self serv site. As a recovery vehicle they had a 1939 Chevrolet wrecker with an Austin(?) straight 6 petrol engine. Could this carb have been a spare for that vehicle? Quote
Gordon_M Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 A clue here is that it has an ORDNANCE stock code on it, confirming that Uncle Sam was at least one of the users. That code format suggests WW2 to me., but that's all I have. Quote
Lancashirelad Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 Thanks for the input Gordon. I'd tend to agree about the age. Little suprised about the lack of other info coming forward. Thought you clued up lads here would have had more to say on this. Quote
wrecker Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Hi,7003470 when typed into interweb brings up someone trying to flog same type of carb they were told ww2 dodge, try a posting on g503 under powerwagons, hope this helps. Quote
N.O.S. Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 The full NSN number is 2910007378898. :coffee: Oh, and the carb apparently is set up for fording, but not inverted flight - so be warned :-D Quote
Gordon_M Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I'm thinking M37 then. It isn't a WW2 Dodge one, military or civilian, that I recognise. WC's were Carter or Zenith, and the only light truck option was Stromberg on the one ton 4 x 2 trucks. Quote
