Gonzoribbons Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Think this old girl is ex RAF. A bit like a short version of a Green Goddess, only not much in the way of visible firefighting equipment. Would love to know what it is, and what it may have served as. Thanks in anticipation GR Quote

Richard Farrant Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 To be precise, this was a Thornycroft Dual Purpose (DP) fire tender, its role was in fire, crash and domestic duties. Was supplied to the RAF as a supplement to the Mk6 Foam Crash tender, carrying extra water supplies for it, and could also be used for domestic fire fighting. Carried 700 galls of water with a Coventry Climax pump with 500 gall per minute output Quote
Richard Farrant Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 This one. No Tony, that is a Mk7 (VII), came much later. Best stick to Dodges mate Quote

There are a couple of Thornycroft Fire tenders in the 1966 Chertesy book. So what date is the Mk 6 then? Edited April 21, 2012 by Tony B Quote
