Hello All,

Discovered your forum yesterday and think it's great.Brilliant format. So thought I should contribute.

My name is Daren,I'm 35years old and live in Jersey.I've been into military vehicles all my life but it has only been within the last few years I've bought a few!

I restore classic and vintage cars for a living which are another passion of mine.I also had the oportunity to work at the Tank Museum at Bovington for 18months whilst living in Dorset.Talk about a kid in a sweet shop!!!!

I have almost finished the restoration of a 101Fc that my long-suffering girlfriend and I bought last year.

Both Lynn and I have worked on the truck, she paint stripped it inside and out!! I have loads of pictures throughout the restoration and will put together a report if anyone is interested and when time allows!

I have just bought an ex-army 110 as my daily driver

Please ignore the roof,it comes with a full length hard top that I want to fit!! No real plans for this one exept enjoy.

Last but by no means least I have a WW11 Chevy C30 that is very complete although minus a body but for full restoration. No pics yet as it is burried very deep in a very dark shed but will hopefully see daylight soon after 15 years and I will take some pictures.

That's it I think.I get to Dorset often as my brother lives in Sandford so hopefully will get to meet some of the Dorset crew in the future.I hope to take the 101 to a few UK shows next year

Look forward to picking all your brains to restore/maintain my growing fleet!! 432 next although she who is known as the management might notice that one on the driveway

Regards

Daren

Hi Daren,

Good to have you here! I used to have an early production 101 before I got into WW2 vehicles, quite a beast.

Is your C30 a 12 or 13 cab? I might be able to help out with a few parts if you let me know what you need.

Cheers!

Matt.

Hi Daren.

Good to have you here and welcome aboard.

You are more than welcome to join us at anytime over here in Dorset. I think next year Dorset residence will be seeing a lot more MV's on road runs.

..............if it is just me on my own, would it still be classsed as a road run?

Hi all,

Matt-will be in touch about chevy parts mate as soon as I know what I need.It is a No13 cab long wheel base (137inch I think) 4x4,but it's parentage is a bit sketchy!! Rumour is it had a dentists body on the back that has long since disappeared and this could be varified by the fact it Has a hardtop cab but no roof hatch. This would appear correct from the few pictures I can find trawling the net. What's not clear is why it's here as the other rumour is it came here with British forces after liberation, but why would they bring a dentists truck? It was supposedly used later for hauling spuds and the gent I am aquiring it from put it in storage in his shed 15years ago.It is amazingly complete as far as cab and mechanics are concerned. All instruments, seats etc are all complete. He says that it turned over when it went in the shed and he drained the oil and then filled the engine to the brim with diesel to preserve it.The engine still has its original paint on it!!! One thing I definately need is the engine cover as this is gone, also I think bull bar and side screens.Would also like manuals.I have been totally in love with these 13 cab chevs since I first set eyes on one and this truck is a dream come true for me.Handsome in an ugly way or ugly in a handsome way!!!!! I eventually hope to repro a GS body for the back and any help/parts for this would be much appreciated.Where abouts are you in the UK Matt and do you own chevys?

Karoshi-thanks for words of encouragement. The workshop is unfortunately on borrowed time and I've been lucky to get enough time in it to almost finish the 101.The sheds are due for demolishing any time so a mutually agreeable arrangement was made with the landlord!! Hopefully I have secured a new place to store the 101 and work on the chevy in the not too distant future and this I am very excited about as I really want to get started on the chevy.

Regards

Daren

Hi Daren,

Sounds like the Chev is quite a find! I'm in Mid Wales and I used to have three Canadian Chevys in poor shape but still have some odds.I can help with an original maintence manual for sure, maybe a tailgate for the cargo body,I don't have any engine covers I'm afraid, the ones I had went with the trucks.if you have a complete sound cab you are lucky as they tend to rust out at the back and the windshield frames.door tops are not easy to get but they are out there, probably best to get the pattern and have a set made.

Keep us posted, would love to see some pics of the Chevy!

Matt.
