I need to make some display stands like yours. Cheap, simple, and effective.

I see you've done a few variants so as you're now the expert can you offer me some tips/pointers to the ideal design please? :)

Unionjack,

you know what the definition of "expert" is dont you? *

What you see is my original stand chopped down as the originals were to tall. 1 upright, just a few inches taller than your longest item, 2 cross pieces for feet, long enough not to tip over, 4 strenthening pieces to stabilise the upright, a screw in c type bracket to hook the hanger on and bobs your dads brother!!

Like you say, simple, cheap and effective.

I have decided to display the uniform over the upright, stops the uniform blowing around.

I have yet to come up with a good idea for displaying the helmets, caps etc that go with the uniforms.

Hope this helps?

Mark

Mannequins etc. are harder to store, these take up a lot less room.

They're being used indoors so stability etc. is less of an issue.

There's two main methods for the base as far as I can see.

a) Put one cross piece over the other, with spacers under the ends of the uppermost, making the upright braces staggered,

b) cut slot joints into the cross pieces with chisel, making upright braces all meet the post at the same point.

I can see pro's & con's for both, with a) stronger but b) nicer.

A removable post would be good too... maybe some box section on the stand to take the post?

Drill hole for threaded bolt into top of stand.

Fix with No Nails.

Screw on plastic float.

Put on helmet.
