xsk460
Well I've finally started the tidy up of my milly! First job on the list is sorting the standard 'Park Royal' cab rot.

Thanks for the pics, I will be watching with great interest, luckily my Milly has hardly any rust.Iain You must have a good one then! :cheesy: This one is mechanically good and has only just come out of service, being replaced by an ex mod Foden. The price was right and the rust isn't actually that bad, its only in areas where the scottish road salt has had a chew... The milly was always stored inside. I don't think my attempts are too bad.... considering I'm restricted to an angle grinder and a big hammer!!! :nut: Thats funny regarding the passenger seat, as my milly has a non standard civvy seat fitted?! xsk460
I love the Holdfast wheel chocks! You've got to use what comes to hand! Saves getting a bolocking of my old fella for nicking stones off his wall!!! :-D
Iain Crosbie
I don't think my attempts are too bad.... considering I'm restricted to an angle grinder and a big hammer!!! :nut: Nice work, but glad I'm not having to do that (yet)! Is the sheet you are using galvanised, and how are you bending the flanges, or do you weld them on after bending the main part?

Is the sheet you are using galvanised, and how are you bending the flanges, or do you weld them on after bending the main part? It's not galvo, just good quality heavy gauge mild steel sheet.... I purchased an 8 x 4ft sheet to do the cab and whats left over will get used on other projects. I'll give it a good lick of red oxide primer on the outer surface and a coat of galvafroid zinc rich primer on the stuff underneath. Flanges were 'developed using a standard vice, a big hammer, the side of my old fella's circular sawbench and anything else that came to hand! The small curving part to the front of the flange was a combination of a small radiused edge formed by the big hammer, then finished of by welding in a piece which was cut and curved to shape. Zero-Five-Two
I don't think my attempts are too bad.... considering I'm restricted to an angle grinder and a big hammer!!! :nut: That's a quality hammer you've got there!! I thought I was pretty reasonable at knocking out the odd panel, but that corner looks the mutts. Nice bit of work, keep the photos coming
xsk460
I just need to finish off and prime up this repair, one of the evenings after work this week... if I remember, I take a pic or two of the finished article. Then the intention is to do the same on the passenger side one of the days next B/H weekend, before I move to the lower panel either side of the cab behind the doors. :nut: Keep tuned in folks for the next gripping installment!!! :cool2:
