BIGREDONE Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Ex HMS Invincible left Portsmouth today 0800 240311 under tow to be recycled in Turkey....... Quote
Paul Drake Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Recycled in...Turkey. What a shame that this country no longer has the means to recycle ships. Could sell the metal to the British Steel industry, Corus...owned by India. Sad. Quote
ArtistsRifles Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Going to Turkey? - probably be flogged to Al Queda on the quiet then!! Quote
abn deuce Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Very Sad indeed . Nothing could be done to save it I guess as no one with the huge money it would take short of a Government . Quote
Pzkpfw-e Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 A few photos in today's "The Daily Telegraph" MoD's having a paddy because someone's written "SOLD" in large letters upon a chunk of the ship! Quote
David Ives Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 even made the sun today with the cost of 2 million pricetag last year Quote
trustmeimamechanic Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Very sad - anything else I would want to say will fall foul of the "P" word. Nimrod - gone Harrier - gone Tornado - going Chally 2 - going Britain's defence capability ........ ???? Quote

Tony B Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Don't hang about do they? :-( Wonder how many cheap Chinese spanner sets that lot will come back as. Quote
RattlesnakeBob Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 very sad indeed...I can only agree with the many reasons already stated. Not only the gaping hole now left in the nations defences but also as someone said....and speaking as someone that was involved for many years in the 'recycling' trade in this country... I find it absolutely ridiculous there is apparantly not a breakers yard nor company in this country now capable of dealing with our own redudant ships..... ........I have a horrible feeling that we'll regret these years soon enough.....
