Stableboy Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 digging around amongst the junk - oops sorry, rare military collectables -which my wife would thow out if only she could lift it all - i found a couple of n.o.s. C spanners which came with some others from a military source; marked "1881278/1.Churchill" any help as to what they are for, military application or not , would be gratefully received! Quote
Meteor mark 4B Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Don't know about the Churchill, but the C spanner on a Centurion was used to turn the gun barrel, a quarter turn I think, to release it for removal. As a humble driver I might be slightly wrong with the amount of turn, but you certainly didn't turn it very much! Quote
airportable Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I'm more than likley barking up the wrong tree! But when I was a ag. fitter,70-80's, Churchill made most of the special service tools for the tractors we sold. Andy. Quote

antarmike Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 (edited) The Churchill Machine Tool Company Ltd. built a range of Metal Cutting Machine tools, many of which would have had a C spanner to adjust bearings or tighten collet type tool holders... http://www.churchill-grinders.co.uk/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Churchill_Machine_Tool_Company Edited February 27, 2011 by antarmike Quote
