Jack
Hi All. The WW2 Tours bus pulled into Aldbourne today as part of their European tour. This tour is named Easy Company Tour and on the tour were the veterans 'Wild' Bill Guarnere & Babe Heffron, those of us who have read the books and watched the mini series will know who they are. We took he kiddies out of school for the day so we could go and meet them - this is history that can not be taught in schools and my children brought their jackets along that are now feeling up with signatures of veterans. It never fails to amaze me that all veterans that I have ever met have always left there mark - these people are just more than 'ordinary' folk and we are all privilaged to be in their company, they are somehow very inspiraing and spiritual in their own right. We also met a lady who husband was an 82nd Airborne troop and she was there to follow the footsteps of her late husband. She took us through all of her pictures of her husband that she still carries with her and she was kind enough to show us before and after pictures of him during WW2. She made sure we took notice of his eyes in the before pictures and then she pointed out how they looked after he had seen and done the things that are required of men in battle - pretty shocking. She was a very proud widow. I also had the pleasure to met Berni, (hi Berni, nice to of met you!) and Rowan and his dad...hi guys. Again, a great day for us all and I do just love this movement - pictures to follow when I have uploaded them! And thanks to Neil and Clive Stevens for they help on this!
