Lord Burley Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Always loved the Westland Scout. It was even more impressive in the film "who dares wins" with fake SAS men hanging from them. Quote
Adrian Barrell Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 The Dingo is a Lynx, a Canadian Ford built Dingo lookalike but with conventional axles and the Cadillac is a Canadian GM C15TA. Quote
morris c8 fat Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 The Lynx is rare enough abd the Sout is a Wasp I would love to go back to Malaca spent 2 years there in 69-71 fun Quote
Lord Burley Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Sorry. My mistake. Both derived from the saunders- roe helicopter.Should have known better really. As the navy version had wheels and the army version had skids. Slightly different profiles as well. But very similar in appearance...... Quote
morris c8 fat Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 and a lovely piece of kit a true Hellicopter Quote
fesm_ndt Posted August 2, 2010 Author Posted August 2, 2010 Thanks for the pics. That Dingo looks interesting. Look like heavier duty wheels as well. I never noticed the wheels, I try to photograph the odd bits if I can spot them Quote
fesm_ndt Posted August 2, 2010 Author Posted August 2, 2010 Always loved the Westland Scout. It was even more impressive in the film "who dares wins" with fake SAS men hanging from them. there was a yard in Brunei selling these a few years back, Can't recall the price but remember one was sold to make a speed boat Quote
fesm_ndt Posted August 2, 2010 Author Posted August 2, 2010 The Dingo is a Lynx, a Canadian Ford built Dingo lookalike but with conventional axles and the Cadillac is a Canadian GM C15TA. A Lynx!!! another new one to add to the list of vehicles I did not know existed. The remains of the torpedo had me wondering, with the mini radial engine, i.e. was it allied or Japanese as it looks like it was found on the sea bed. Also wondered if when they detonated the rear stub like this got blown away intact or this was a dud with the rest corroding away. I travel a lot so I will try to keep finding MV's but my next destination is the UK so you guys, 'I think' got that covered already , mind you Granta Park held some secrets. Quote
fesm_ndt Posted August 22, 2010 Author Posted August 22, 2010 Well went to Shropshire to buy some Pinz bits and found out the entire area is littered with exMod bases. The area where one of the Pinz location is an ex airforce base, so I hope to get some more snaps this morning. You can make out the WREN only above the toilet door Small weapon range Quote
fesm_ndt Posted August 22, 2010 Author Posted August 22, 2010 A Stalwart went past, but unfortunately I never got a photo, met the owner who was a nice bloke though. A mixture of Petrol and Deisel Pinzgauer from both ends of the line The petrol 710M are smaller than the deisel 716 4x4 and are not a bad looking vehicle A 716M P90 getting tidied up. The silver paint was applied to cover the camoflage at export to meet customs requirements A 716M P90 mortar carrier which have a few quirky difference but the big chunk of plate for extra ballast behind the NATO hook is the easiest identifier Gregor's 716K P80 A very nice 718M P80 auto Quote

antarmike Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 I haven't been any where, it's just that the Forum seems to have had no end of topics I have not been motivated to reply to. Quote
Enigma Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Some cool offroading! Going through that mudbath would be a challenge for a lot of vehicles. Quote
fesm_ndt Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 The tilting of the trucks is awesome as we got over45 on several occasions Fairly scary given the height of the pinz. At one point I was standing on the spare tyre at the two o'clock postion to stay upright. I have to finish the video now I am back in kl. Quote
