In response to a comment made by Snapper I thought I would drop a few lines on the subject.

 

Being here in Canada, the availability of parts is just about zero.

 

Anything we want has to be bought from UK classifieds or eblag or from UK suppliers. That means a credit card, outrageous postage, customs clearance and duties and a wait if it is anything bigger than a letter size item. Most packages are opened by Customs.

 

The nearest person who has anything like we have is 2 hours away.

 

The best resource is this forum and other MV sites and friendly knowledgeable UK suppliers.

 

There is a plethora of M series vehicles and jeeps but very few British vehicles and even les knowledge on how to maintain them.

 

One of the items we have the most proble with is paint as it is hazardous material and is a whole palava to import.

 

I'm sure others can add more

Robin - why on earth would you want to import paint rather than having it mixed by a local supplier?

Getting flat paint matched over here has been a tortuous process with zero matches ever achieved.

 

Some subterfuge was involved in getting the last lot in.

I used Krylon camoflage olive green and it matched the rest of the truck perfectly

Yes Tim we use that as a touch up but have you ever tried to paint a whole damned truck with spray cans?
