Would it be possible to space the splinder screen holder off the inside of the hull with flat washers between the holder and the hull ? or baring that could you use a strip of foam tape in the gap between the hull and holder ? I understand its important there not be any room for the screen to rattle around just thoughts /suggestions.

common fault?

correct - a common fault, not seen one that can be removed with disassembling the bracket from the hull, great design.

one US owner has bent the front lip of the holder outwards which just gives enough angle to get the screen in/out under the hull armour

I had the same prob with my screen holder not possible to fit with felt in...had to remove one peice of felt...fitted fine...will pack out at the front with a sutable peice of material to stop rattling....after all i'm only going to fit it once as its a spare and not likely to get used.. regards Keith H
