Kuno Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 (edited) Here the link to the website of this "double museum" and some photographs I had the chance to take today. The occassion was the official opening of an additional hall where tanks, guns and trucks are displayed. martylee Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Very nice indeed! Switzerland has now been added to placec to visit! :-) Please feel free to keep us updated and even add more photos if you want to! Was it your family that run this museum? Marty Quote
Kuno Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 I have added the captions on top as good as I could. In fact, each vehicle has a plate in front of it, giving the principal data and the history of the particular vehicle. Quote
Kuno Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 There were as well vehicles on display in front of the museum (which is located in the buildings of a abandoned chemical factory). Some of those vehicles belong to the museum, others wer presented by private persons: Quote
Kuno Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 Historical displays of various groups (which as far as I know are not an integrated part of the museum): Quote
Kuno Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 And some "live action" of the Swiss Army: Quote
Kuno Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 Was it your family that run this museum? Hi Marty; no, it is not my family who runs that museum. I am just living in the neighborhood. The museum is maintaied by an association. Quote
chevpol Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 very nice collection, in a very nice country, must get back there soon Mark Quote
Kuno Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 And some from 2006 (When they had occupied a bigger hangar): Quote
berna2vm Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 This looks a fantastic museum!!! A place I should definately visit :-)....What is the small modern 4x4 vehicle that looks a little like a Fiat Campagnolo with a Saurer badge? Quote
Kuno Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 THis 4x4? Atually it seems to me as it would be some sort of a prototype by Saurer. It was too big for the Fiat Campagnola. I had a numberplate so I guess somebody was even driving it. But nobody stood near to it so I could not ask about the history of the vehicle. Quote
Kuno Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 Found it: Prototype 288 Saurer jeep 1980, Model 288. The petrol engine comes from Volvo, the axles from the company Dana. The body is probable from Monteverdi, Binningen. Of it approx. 25 pcs were built. The vehicle was thought as substitution of the Willy' s CJ7 jeep and the Landrover. Then, however, a competitor received the order to supply the vehicles. Quote
