timo376
Every time i seem to fix something on the jeep, something else goes wrong :argh: this time its the starter motor, it seems the solenoid has packed in... :? The jeep is 24v, with a preselector?? I went to start it & on pressing the button it just went click! I tried rocking it, banging it & swearing at it, but to no avail, it still goes 'click' It starts with a push & a very kind gentleman has lent me his starting handle, & I'm getting quite good at starting it this way!! Anyhow, does anyone haveany knowledge of how to fix it?, Is it fixable? any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. commander
Check that one of your batteries has not gone down first you would get the same problem C
stanpart57
24V eh? That'll be a Hotchkiss then, have a look at Andys Military jeep pages.(http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Jeep_Man/) There is a section on how to change the starter motor brushes and other useful starter motor stuff. But do check your batteries and connectrions are all tight first! Paul
timo376
Cheers for that, :-) i've had the batteries checked & they were ok, Both showing 12+ volts, I'll check the connections, but it looks more like having to take the starter off. It'll give me something to do!! tim
commander
Ref the batteries were they load tested or just checked for 12volts . I have seen loads of batteries show 12 volts but once put under load they break down just a thought C
