Niels v Posted November 10, 2009 Share Posted November 10, 2009 (edited) Hi all I thought that it was time I wrote a little about the club that I am restoring the Humber Mk4 ac for. It called The Guard Hussar Regiments’ Historical vehicles club. The club has some 450 members, but only small amount these are active in restoring, maintaining and running the vehicles. All work are done by volunteers, some of the expenses and spares are covered by the army. And we have a sister club at the Danish Dragoon regiment All the vehicles in the club are owned by the army/regiment ore the national arms museum. We have part of a army storage and workshop facility, to our disposal, but this also necessary as the vehicles are army property and there for cant be stored privately. We display the vehicles at different civilian and military show. Well here are the vehicles that we have: Centurion Mk 5, I fully working order J it had been taken out of service in the late eighties and stored for museum purpose. Leopard 1 A5 DK 1, fully working order taken directly out storage, and it done 0 hours after a complete army overhaul, it has now been fitted with a dozerblade and we have a Ramta mine plow for it as well. Leo 1 A5 DK1. This is one of the 3 only Danish leopards that seen combat in Bosnia, in the early 90ties. Also In working condition, all of the 3 Leos that saw combat was taken out of service and stored for museums. We have 3rd Leo 1A5 as well. some of the things we do with the tanks, help the army saving money by firing of all the 105 mm ammo, instead of army paying for ammo being dismantled. an empty Sherman hull, one of the 8 Sherman’s that the Danish army received in the early fifties. Its fitted with a 76 mm gun, sadly in the early 80ties the interior and engine was strip out and scraped. Its going to be repainted and used as a gate guardian. This one of 4 M24 Chaffees that we have. This one is undergoing complete restoration. Of the 3 other only one will be restored the other are only fit for spares and a very incomplete. this is a M41 DK1 a Danish upgraded version of the M41 and one of the 3 remain running ones. It was upgraded in the early 80 ties with new diesel engine and gearbox, firecontrol system and various other things. It had been taken out of service in the early 90ties and stored for museum purpose. This is our 4 M10, of witch 2 are undergoing restoration at the moment, and hopefully one more later. M578 I don’t know what would we done with out. our Carrier, with a Danish tank dummy modification. This was done by the army to save money, by using there old carriers instead of there centurion tanks. This is some of our 9 M113, we have different types: fitters , command, mortar ect. Most of them are running. I am in charge of this work. We sadly only got part to make one running again. a Running Willy CJ3A running M38A1 and A M38A1 for recoilless rifle. We also have GS body Magirus we have 3 differnet types of MAN 8 A sad Dodge W300 M Power wagon A radar mercedes Unimog. Diamond 969 wrecker. It has been modified so that it can be driven by a person lying in the sidecar. bike M59 fuel trailer for Centurion a British WW2 water trailer. A trailer for leopard engine units. + varius other items. There is still some vehicles on waiting list but we can not a the moment store them Well its a lot of work keeping them all I wish that had more people working...... I am also surprised that your club is alloed to fire live 105mm ammo. In the UK the authorities are so scared of any one hurting them selves that the public would never ever get to touch a live shell never mind fire one! To my knowledge, there are 3 Staghound Mk III left in the world, one in canada, one in australia and the Danish one, where the danish one is the most complet, but not the best condition. But your never know whats hidding in a shed some where, I have stumbled across some odd things in Denmark that we had thougt was lost..... The reason that we are allowed to fire live is that the vehicles are still army propperty and most of the club members working on the tanks are sevice men and x tank crew members. all the tanks went through a complet army 2 week service check and calibration for the gun, before they where allowed to take them to the ranges. Some of the shotings where acctualy open to a the puplic audience, because they where held in connection with puplic showing of the army traininggrounds. We would like to bring vehicles to the War and peace show, and we have tried to get permission. But as it is now we can not get permission to take any army propperty ore live firing guns out of the country. The gun law in Denmark is very different to the British one, we are allowed to own certain types of live hunting and sports weapons, but not deactivated weapons :confused:. they did not have any ammo for the 17 Pdr, but the gun on it is complet and working Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We are needing a wire diagram for the C15ta can any one help? Our M24 project is stalled a bit. The Mowag Eagles are being phased out by the army now, and we have gotton hold of one.
