Degsy
I missed all of it. Its true then that you were found asleep under a 'jimmy' cradling an empty whisky bottle in each hand and wearing a huge grin.:rofl:

haybaggerman
Just thought I would update this thread as a matter of interest. We were very proud of my uncle who was invited to a "do" at Buckingham Palace recently as a veteran of the war. Prince Andrew had a chat to him and asked a few questions about his medals and cap badge. Its an important thing that we take the time to say thank you and to remember. And to think, until recently, he thought people wouldn't be interested in what he had done.
abn deuce
I'm sure he knows that's not true and hope he will write down or dictate as many of his experiences as he can before he forgets them . Best wishes for his wonderful long life.
Enigma
I remember him from A&E. Good to see he's still around!
haybaggerman
Just to report the passing of my uncle detailed in this thread. It’s all the more important to preserve these vehicles that we have for the sake of history as those that were there leave us.
Adrian Barrell
I'm so sorry to hear that Paul, it was an honour and privilege to meet him and be given the opportunity to take him for a ride in the Sherman. They truly were the greatest generation. RIP Frank.
Enigma
I remember meeting him at A&E. He brought a model Sherman he made himself out of metal IIRC. It was a honour meeting him and being able to talk. Rest in peace and my condoleances to all.
