Rick W Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Looks like a rail mounted BARV. Is that a gantry out the back? Quote
Tony B Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 A rail mounted blockade buster/snowplough Quote
No Signals Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 A rail mounted blockade buster/snowplough My first thoughts were snowplough, so 'barricade burster' seems a logical explanation. Double ended though? Quote
antarmike Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 so it can run in either direction without having to find a turntable, any passing loop can be used to move a loco to the other end of the plough, but turntables are harder to find.... Quote
antarmike Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Double ended snow ploughs are not uncommon... Quote
radiomike7 Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 I too thought snow plough, the German for snow is Schnee so the S3 could be relevant. However the plough has no way of clearing/deflecting the first metre or so of snow due to the projecting truck chassis so I suspect it is something else. Quote
croc Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 I was thinking that, but does it fold down? Quote
radiomike7 Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 I was thinking that, but does it fold down? Good point Croc, having blown the photo up there looks to be a folding stay on either side. Quote
Gordon_M Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Nice piece of kit. I like rail stuff and have a couple of rail-adapted bits here... http://www.gwim2.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/wd21.htm Quote
