Durham Light Infantry Museum - Day 1, 30th Aug

Recommended Posts

Here's a selection of pictures from the DLI Museum event, hosted by the Museum and the North East Military Vehicle Club. Around 60 vehicles were booked in ranging from push bikes to present day stuff, with a good selection in between.

The weather was kind to us and the rain held off until after we were back home ( only an 11 mile drive for me ). Day two normally sees a few different vehicles, so I'll be back tomorrow with some more pics.

Amongst the vehicles there was an Austin K2 Ambulance, found around 2001 in a very poor state, which had been rebuilt over about 7 years and now looks like it just left the factory.

Cheers!

Here's a few more from today. The weather wasn't as nice, despite the forecast saying it was to be the better day. Never believe a word they say these days!

So here we go. What do you make of this Chevy? Ever seen one before? know what they were used for?

Ken, from our own Durham & Tees Valley area went to run his generator trailer on the back of his Humber Wireless truck. It hadn't run for two years since we were at the Ursel show in Belgium, so took a little encouragement to get the priming pump to pull the fuel through. That was after Ken topped up the tank, as the trailer was parked on a hill and the engine feed was at the uphill end of the tank!

After much fiddling, the primer came back to life, and the genny was started, breaking the quiet for miles around! By the sound of it, Ken could jump start the Space Shuttle with it  The big grin in the second picture is just after the generator fired up!
