Basher Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Hello you chaps, My name is Ernie Wright I live in Manchester where my wife and I run a small garage I have been specialising in American cars for over 40 years and still going strong except for the bad back, knees, elbows, shoulders and blood pressure I am on top of the world! I got into MV`s when I was 12 years old my uncle Tom had a 1929 front wheel drive Alvis car that he had restored or should I say got working [they were not valuable back then] any way I helped or hinderd him in various ways to get it back on the road, the first run out was to Platt Fields in Manchester the Army had an open day of sorts you know the one, Royal Core of Signals doing the pyramid on the motor bikes, Centurion Tanks, Antar transporters, APC`s,Cannons, guns ect. In the corner of the field was this strange looking vehicle "whats that uncle Tom" inquired little Ern "its an ALVIS" came the reply, "is it front wheel drive like yours", "No its SIX wheel drive and it can go in water and float!". Well that was it I just had to get one of those, and I did but it was 40 years later, and then had to restore it to swim and rally, an ALVIS STALWART "the most fun you can have with your clothes on" untill you have to work on the b----y thing! God Bless Ernie Quote

snowtracdave Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Welcome Ernie - you know , describing those symptoms you could have hit on something there - cause or effect of MV ownership ? Hands up everybody else with the same problems . Quote
Degsy Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Yes, I can hold my hand up to all those symptoms but I put it down to a lifetime of hard graft. There's a saying about hard work never killing anyone, maybe, but it sure wears you out.:-D Quote
