m151tx Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Hi Guys. Hope you do not mind me picking your brains. All the pictures I have over here only show Larkspur intercoms as having been fitted but I was told that Clansman was retrofitted late in their service life, can anyone confirm this one way or another. On another topic, were any Saracen's deployed in the first gulf war, seen pictures of Ferrets etc but not Saracens so far ? Thanks. Mark Quote
sirhc Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Mark, Saracens were not used in the Gulf. After the 432 and later CVRT turend up they were mostly retired, although they did last in Northern Ireland for a bit longer. You should be able to fit Clansman into one but I have no manuals etc. Chris Quote

On another topic, were any Saracen's deployed in the first gulf war, seen pictures of Ferrets etc but not Saracens so far ? Thanks. Mark 15/19H (3 Armd Div Armd Recce Regt) had (IIRC) 10 Saracens from deployment to BAOR late 1977 until we were issued Sultan in it must have been 1979. Seven times ACV (3 for RHQ; 2 each for the medium recce sabre squadrons) and three times ambulance (1 each HQ and the two medium recce squadrons. The close recce squadron IIRC got none of this infrastructure because it spent its life deployed by troops attached to the other five combat units in the division - 3 times Inf Bn and 2 times Armd Regt). I started this thread about to say we fitted Clansman to the Saracens for about six months before receiving Sultans, but on reflection, we fitted Larkspur to the Sultans for about six months before receiving Clansman. Sorry. No help at all. Quote
