  2. Usually straight 140 gear oil, stay away from anything with EP as they can eat brass parts.

  4. I'm afraid most of what I have is in the pictures. I have contacted the guy I bought it off who is going to try to contact the family of the previous owner to see if anymore body parts can be tracked down.
  5. I bought it thinking it was a tilly with the plan of building a new body. Now I'm not shore what I plan to do with it. First thing is to find more information on it.

  7. Were any later war standard tilly's with the flat mesh radiator grills built as van's either for military or civilian use? I know the RAF had some standard 14 panel van's early war with civilian fronts. Peter.
  8. After a lot of research by Alastair we decided we would have to make the mesh for the grills. Alastair was able to find a company that could cut 1.6mm plate into 3.5mm strips. I then made tooling to press the zig zag into each strip then wove them together. The grills have U shaped edging around them, it was a challenge to work out how to loose the extra metal on the shoulders of the grills. Lots of metal went in the scrap. The grills are only slotted into the edging. I ended making up 7 grills which took a lot of time and drove me mad!
  9. I now have both the 12 and 30 volt auxiliary dynamos and one mounting cradle. I found the 30 volt dynamo in Belgium and with brexit and covid took a year and a half to get it back. Many thanks to everyone who helped out.
  10. The Austin tilly that was blown up has since been rebuilt. It was bought off John Marchant in 2 halves.
  11. Try O'neals vintage ford. They have similar numbered pipes. They are very helpful if you ring and have quick postage. Peter.
  12. Hi Steve. One trick we use on the farm is to carefully run a weld around the centre of the bearing with stick welder with the power turned up to get heat into it. I have also used the stick welder to cut bearings out on high power but it isn't pretty!

  15. I've managed to measure the body tonight where the battery trays sit then ruffly scaled the length of the battery as about 16" give or take. Still looking for any help on measurements or purchasing a battery box. Peter.
  16. I'm now shore it's a Rubbolite N,o,3 I need. But that's an interesting point. Period pictures show a white section on the rear axle but I can't find any parts listed for a convoy light or switch in the parts list? Another question to sort out. Peter.

I've see that picture before, the number plate bolts across below the light which also lights the number plate. The number plates were often removed, there is also a bar missing lower down Peter.

  22. I had one the same years ago. The frame is the same as a MK2 lightweight trailer but has never had sides on. The bit on the back left corner is remains of a T that had a thread and large wing nut. I think there was one at each corner. Mine also had mud guards which were original by the layers of paint. I rebuilt mine as standard MK2 with sides.
  23. Thanks for the information. There's a D8C 59 on eBay at moment and was wondering about the differences. I think I have the D8C 47x with correct cradle safely waiting in Belgium but I'm always looking for parts for the Loyd. Does anyone have any details on the Bedford slave battery lorries? Just googled it and it mentions OY, is this correct? Thanks Peter.
