  1. I can't recall saying they didn't find anything!! The object of my writing to them was to promote a reply ,which as yet has not arrived , the idea that they have not found anything only comes from your view of the world that would be rather than the world as it is...why would they commit to answer any question ? far better to pull a version of the fifth amendment (be non committal say nowt) that leaves the question dead in the water and no headway is made by the inquisitor (stalemate) Do you honestly think that these people or person would forgo their closed shop investors only strategy in favour of a big heap of scrap metal far better to leave it till you've made what you came for and leave the rest to the mod to sort out ,these people lie and lye low they have never relished getting their hands dirty,.. Near to the area where I live is the most expensive property market in the UK
  2. Just an update ...wrote to a Mr Ryley he being the mod surveyor responsible for the waterbeach development , asking if he could provide any information as to the latest thinking or proposals concerning the buried tanks, pointing out that of the four areas of concrete laid in 1950 all had been opened on the co ordinates that I had provided on the hmvf web ..this I did quite recently ..way back in 2012 when I discussed the tank burial with both Philip Hammond and Andy Burnham I did not give out the co ordinates just citing the approximation below the two apron stands and pointing out that the runway east and west had been widened but did not contain anything other than hard core... As yet I have received no reply which doesn't surprise me ..as the subject matter was on more than one occasion denied to ever existed although he had only been in charge of his prize possession for three days when I first bridged the subject with him ..he has had ten years to think about it ...one or two tanks shouldn't cause a problem but thirteen thousand tons might cause a few sleepless nights ........
  3. I was unaware that they produced a missile in the shape of a sphere !
  4. With all of the recent news from Ukraine it reminded me of the Cuban crisis , all this sabre rattling ,we are one little blue dot in sea of nothing yet ignorance still prevails ,ok I'm arcing back sixty years but the name of the game was the same ...it's mine ..no it's mine .... As an agricultural engineer back in the day I watched and learnt that progress was part of the human races ingenious capacity to be able to improve on yesterday , simple example going from horse drawn to mechanisation in no time at all. But then there was this .... Called out to breakdown, tractor has stopped...it's on Farnborough airfield mowing the grass , reach gate house and guard room seems very busy ..why are you here? Sign this official secrets act .camera clicks .given directions ...do not drive on taxi way get it ,drive round the grass , all very dictatorial.. as yet the penny hasn't dropped ,it's mid October 62 nice sunny day leaves just starting to turn tractor on opposite side of airfield , on reaching it found to elderly chaps with sythes cutting along the fence line and burning what they cut on a bonfire with the long suffering kettle on top , "oh come to do the tractor don't know what happened just stopped" early fordson major with upright injection pump minus pump coupling , also water pump seals gone , whip off bonnet front cowl and radiator remove water pump ,then notice RAF land rover in awful hurry straight lining towards me across airfield it did a fifty yard skid across the grass and out lept the driver tall ginger headed corporal who delivered the words "We are about to go to Red Alert " have to tell you that I am giving you a predicted four minute warning" .."this airfield will be taken out do you understand " .As there wasn't a lot you can say in reply I said I better eat my sandwiches now then ....didn't eat the sandwiches instead got on with job ,more so as at the time was being paid bonus 33% more you did more you got , so better rattle on , suddenly out of the corner of my my eye an aircraft appeared low and fast over the roof tops to the east the town there being terraced down toward the airfield, it had its headlights on and wasn't hanging.about once it started down almost skipping down the roof tops I could see it was a Vulcan bomber ,there was nothing gracious about his approach with all flaps down and leaving to trails of black smoke spinning behind an a heat haze you could cut with a knife..he started to brake once he touched the runway which bought the nose down so fast that smoke poured of the nose wheel as the plane came towards me ,as it slowed the nose started to lift back having almost torn the nose wheel flaps off ...as It went past me to the end of the end of the runway which was two hundred yard to my left still quarter throttle with smoke billowing of the main undercarriage brakes , usually these were seen with pristene paint work but this was in a right state from nose to tail all leading edges were black with spider web dribbles fanning out down the fuselage the engine cowls were a coffee colour with streaks of oil that had feathered away along the underside of the wings ,I could see the Crew in the cockpit just through the side cockpit window which was stained with a sheet if oil reflecting the sunlight , braking hard it turned left onto the taxi way then Sharp left again to pass by me in the opposite direction it had used on the main runway as it throttled up it passed the two old boys cutting the long grass by hand ,in a flash their bonfire went along with the kettle way out into the woods , then their bikes spinning through the air some hundred and fifty yards ,as the pilot gave it a bit more throttle the two old boys went laying flat grasping at the grass the were blown into the woods. As it came past me at around forty mph I crouched down behind the tractor ,couldn't breath for paraffin fumes but then it turned left again across the main runway and headed to the back of the national gas turbine research centre . .No sooner had it stopped than the bomb bay doors opened a team of men in white full body suits gathered round with a framework on wheels like Ali scaffold also had what looked at a distance like a garage sun tuner dials all over it ,they tried to put a screen around the bomb bay doors but gave up on that ,then slowly a device appeared being lowered down inch by inch on to the cradle , slowly appeared a glossy black ball with coloured cables and pipework attached to it ,more wiring and pipes were connected to it from the sun tuner and most of the ground staff moved away and left two or three people attending to the black glossy ball which only just fitted into the width of the Vulcans bomb bay , so in one morning sixty years ago I was warned about the arrival of Armageddon and then actually saw an Armageddon ,often wondered about the crew of that vulcan ,was going to say they were just ordinary people but they were far beyond ordinary which brings back to (Why Again) ???????.
  5. If at first ..... I figured that if this hot weather continues for any length of time inside those pits would be like ovens then if it rained and cooled the surrounding area and the temperature of the concrete aprons were checked and also make a comparison between the apron temp and the runway temp that being concrete as well but with little apart from a foot of granite chippings under.it might point to there being a reason for the aprons to be working like a night storage heater ...although a drone would come in useful something I haven't got nor have ever used.. yes one has to have permission and a licence but it wouldn't be the first time I drove around for six months before I got an MOT...........as Clarkson said ;what could possibly go wrong;;
  6. Sorry dropped phone and canceled out what I had written ,don't know how to retrieve it !!!!.......
  7. Fortunately or unfortunately.depending how you view this the burial site at waterbeach was designed to carry the weight of u/s bombers circa 49/50 just as the cold war picked up speed ,they were never deployed there instead it was a parking lot for venoms and meteors eventually becoming a parking lot for the royal engineers plant and vehicles ,yes there are many or were many of the ww2 concrete pod stands scattered over the three hundred acres used back in the day by stirlings and the like many of thes are isolated with vegetation growing through and many have ground workings visible but this was all before the two aprons were laid for the u/s aircraft ....and if one walks across or around the two 50s aprons they are unblemished. ,only recently has the concrete been cut on each of the aprons in the last two years ,wether or not the developers decided after I gave them the info to have a soil test their main worry would be pollution or contamination beyond that it would all be down to the mod to clear up , the end result to why this are was never checked with gpr was that the stands were laid at the same time as the burial or days after , moving that volume of soil and dumping it on the perimeter of the airfield would have insured that apart from fifteen or sixteen thousand tons of armoured vehicles that went into the pits would have been clean ....but at the end of the day it was done in secret ,there it an awful lot more to this story but my prime objective was those tanks ,as I said I was a witness when this plot was hatched .......
  8. ok it's upside down .....many of you will know what this is ..if you were still standing in may 45 you might have received one......
  9. It your man who buried the tanks almost twenty years later ,,,busy boy wasn't he
  10. Large pic forth from left front row ,close up third from left front row ...Middlesex reg machine gun competitors Aldershot tattoo believe 1932....
  11. Just dug a couple more items out relating to my father's army career ..
  12. Hi, have been otherwise engaged recently ,new heart valve fitted. To think 60 years ago I was doing rings and valves on N,E27N tractors along with V8 fords and now medical technology and skilled hands can do the same for the human race ..... Anyway this post is nowhere near finished and it's likely I never get to the truth but as it was my friend Philip Hammond who warned me off of persueing this as he had done with waterbeach it just added another reason why I should continue digging .. The following is a picture of a part of the lists of those buried in unmarked graves in st Jude's cemetery englefield green Egham the memorial shown earlier the list is not chronological so it's difficult to determine what or who was interred in ww1 as apposed to ww2 although regiments between came and went along with later additions such as home guard ,RAF, or reme do give a more reliable time line ...
  13. Hi .about a year ago I put the coordinates of the two burial sites on this thread so no I'm not looking for them was just pointing out with the picture that there wasn't enough room between the road ( peri track ) and the apron to gain access with a side scan ,ten years ago I gave all of the details to the site management that's why I was banned from the place ,,as they had never scanned the burial sight and yet announced the place was clean ..which enabled the development of the site to continue ...they had not considered the historic geographic alterations of the airfield assuming how it is now was how it was seventy odd years ago ..you might notice each of the aprons either side of the control tower have been opened up with a two or three foot wide trench across their width ,this would give access through the foot or so of concrete with a magnetometer , not something they would let me do ten years ago ...round black holes are actually vegetation growing in what I think we're compass swings back in the day ,,yes there are plates of concrete missing from the main runway nearest the A10 that's where the young re squaddies trained in runway repairs before they went t get blown to bits in Helmand's Provence ..
  14. Thought it might be of interest to someone .came across a pic I took at waterbeach airfield back in 2012 , not surprising what you might find laying about on an active airfield , the concrete seen through the fence is a small part of the east apron ( is one burial site , was checking if I could find anywhere along this fence where one could gain access without cutting holes in the concrete to implant side scan units but found that the road butted right up to the apron.. although I later recalled that I was told that both pits were encased in railway sleepers which could cause a problem ..
  15. Pics of group &two father on the right of the two and in the centre of the group, believe this was when he was with the 30th armoured brigade early spring 43 possibly Bexhill Kent ....
  16. Came across more info on my father's military history which might be of interest to some . just a fill in while waiting for Hammond to admit to having tanks at waterbeach ...
  17. Thank for your input , I was only small but even then as there wasn't much else to distract you from the reality of the world one lived in, the gulf between now and then is vast , so vast that it seems like another world, one was reminded at every turn of the "don'ts" don't talk to strangers, don't talk about things you might see like from the top of a bus or on a train journey, Chad was everywhere ,a drawing showing the top of a head two eyes and a long nose peering over a wall beside the head were the fingers clutching the top of the wall ,the message of this was you never know who's watching or listening ,then a whole raft of criminal don'ts for which you could be prosecuted , one such was not to look up to the sky as others might join you out of curiosity other might take flight thinking the enemy in some form is coming and all might panic , the rush to get to the local shop before ten cause then they would be sold out..... Of everything anyway it was all on ration but they still ran out...a V2 landed behind our little street blowing our windows an front doors in and the ARP warden and a constable came down the street telling every one it was just a gas explosion the street was covered in bricks and tiles and dead birds ....no after six years of the don'ts and subversive information every one knew better than to talk about anything a whole generation never forgot and very rarely looked up ,it was still embedded in society in the sixties.
  18. Geographically the cemetery is just over 3 miles as the crow flies ,however next door to the cemetery up until recently stood a small cottage hospital and what I've read regarding this place prior to ww2 inferred that it was strapped for cash and as a charitable organisation had little in it to compare with a general hospital citing that its operating table was a metal bench, now as I do not have any information that determines the.cause of death of any of the residents in the unmarked graves I can at least establish that along with the the Powys home guard the Irish American was at the Chobham camp in 1940 and during their stay made many visits to the South downs , the question is what was the reason for them being at the camp , as the Luftwaffe pics show it amongst other things was a smoke school . There were many smoke schools although details of their existence seems to have been conveniently forgotten . At the point of an imminent invasion what would be the point of sending the 1500 home guard to the South downs an area which one would consider to be the initial killing Fields in the face of a seaborne invasion , as one could assume that the Powys detachment would not have been the only home guard units that had visited the South downs at this time , with a desimated army recently plucked from the jaws of the enemy at Dunkirk it would have been a matter that anything that would repel an invading force would have been on the table ,as it was no secret that Winston was not averse in the use of chemical weapons having used them in protecting the British expeditionary force in Russia and possibly in Iraq with his determination that none should assert their will upon these islands. So was it that these willing souls were part of a last ditch attempt (if it came to that) to activate the last resort in which they had been trained at camps like Chobham.
  19. The above picture is of a recently erected monument in respect of a number of people who had been laid rest in unmarked graves at St Jude's cemetery in Englefield Green Surrey these were serving members of th armed forces in ww2, few were local many from overseas ,when I visited it partly out of.curiousty and it being quite local I was rather taken aback by a regimental name that jumped out of the stone at me that of the Welch regiment a regiment I had referred to earlier in this thread the member of this not often heard of and certainly not local regiment coming from Powys in Wales was a sergeant , I found that he was a 41year old Irish American who had signed up with the Welch regiment home guard around 1940 ,earlier I had pointed out that this home guard regiment had arrived in 1940 at Chobham Common some coincidence to find one of its members still here albeit in a unmarked grave.
  20. Just to tidy up a couple of loose ends before I proceed , my sketches that I put on in September of last year were either as I remember the common in the fifties or from deducing that existing evidence of structures along with gpr evidence that identified underground service lines that served between the unidentified structures helped to enable a picture of the objectives and use that the common was put to. The pic with the red car was an area where tanks would cross the road from the tank factory on to the common .in the pic which is looking south toward Woking the tank factory would have been behind you as you look towards woking , 1974 ish saw the M3 plough straight across the common splitting the tank factory from. the common so what is in my pic with the red car no longer exists ..
  21. Thank you for your advice ,I agree with all that you say unfortunately I am as welcome at the N/A as would be a swarm of locust ,this due to not any wrong doing ,more from outside interference into the inscrutable reputation of the N/A by persons not within that organisation with the power to be able to determine what gets red by who and when ,
  22. Who is they ? Missed my point ,had the search been the area it was in ww2 they may have found them ,but it only covered an area that didn't include the burial site...so hence egg on the face of the guy in charge ..and no I'm not averse to the vacant land being used for housing I'm just pointing out how and why they haven't been revealed ...also in passing I could not punch through the concrete with ground penetrating radar ,the munition team on the day agreed that they could not either although the area was outside their brief to check anyway .so it was left as the on site bomb disposal corporal put it ( if they eventually hit something with the JCB bucket we will come back and attend to it ..
