  1. Douglas Taskmaster, available with or without a cab. https://www.flickr.com/photos/93622336@N07/31849301411/in/photostream/
  2. Never seen one of those, check out the amazing radiator mounts, some sort of sliding pillar arrangement.
  3. You do realise that post was was from 9 years ago?
  4. Built in 1943, RF VRN suggests a wartime vehicle rebuilt in 1949, CSU civilian reg. issued in July 1986. Photo taken in the 1980s at a Duxford show: https://www.flickr.com/photos/richard64pics/51516512334/
  5. I would suggest a call to Fuchs or Millers, they are both very helpful. Are you still running the accumulators under the cab or can the Cummins pump cope on its own?
  6. I somehow doubt it was toughened glass, once it has been heat treated at the factory it is almost impossible to cut or drill due to the built in stresses. What you have is most likely laminated glass, a sandwich of two glass sheets with a plastic centre core.
  7. Witham have an ex reserve Ferret mk2/3 showing 68 miles which looks like it is fresh out of a base overhaul. https://bid.mod-sales.com/auctions/8523/witham10140/lot-details/e60a6416-9b31-4aac-8191-afe800c2c51f
  8. Looks like another ex fairground one available unless it is an old ad: https://bruceatfield.co.uk/product/albion-cx22-lorry-c-w-scammel-winch/
  9. I think you will find the rating of 2.5tons refers to each each cable the block is used with, in your case one on each side of the main pulley and one to the central eye giving a total of 7.5tons. I am basing this on the similar Fellows snatch block used on the Foden recovery which had a rating of 45tons when reeved with 3 cables.
  10. Might this be HMS Bronington at Birkenhead?? 'The Prince ended his service aboard 'Bronnie' by being wheeled off it in a wheelchair "because his command had aged him" and, in an unusual naval tradition, with a toilet seat hanging around his neck'.
  11. OP says it is a 1982 but no details of reg. cab or body type. RB produced a small RB44 fire appliance around that time and there was also an A series cab military prototype.
  12. Does it not have a pair of AEC or Leyland engines?
  13. Thinking back to the 90s I seem to remember tyre dates being a 3 figure number, so 128 would be the 12th week of 1998.
  14. I assume you know what Stomil translates to, hundred mile!!
  15. Might this be one of the earlier RB44s with the Ford A series cab?
  16. If you have an engine crane, place the gearbox on the horizontal girders using the crane as a trolley and manoeuvre the gearbox to the correct location, then use the crane to lift the gearbox in to place. If that doesn't work can you raise the chassis and put it on blocks or stands to gain a few inches?
  17. Looks like a Thornycroft Amazon lwb (16.5ft) WF8 with Coles mk7 6 ton crane. Engine should be a Thornycroft NR6 diesel with a pto which drives a generator to power the electric crane. 388 built, mainly for the RAF.
  18. Have you got the tyre type incorrect as all the Goodyear Bargrips I have seen are crossply? If you fit modern tubeless radials from a T244 to split rim wheels you will need to use tubes which some tyre makers are not happy about due to heat build up from the more flexible sidewalls. You can get special radial type tubes but best to get advice from the tyre maker. Also beware if thinking of using an alternative wheel, I seem to remember the Bedfords are nut centric and later types may be hub centric. Either way don't forget to re-torque after 50 miles or so. Unless the fitting charge includes a new tube and flap it is way over the top, it takes decent tyre fitter a maximum of 15 minutes to strip down and build up a split rim, even if the bead has stuck to the rim. Five minutes to inflate in a cage and job done.
