  19. Is it worth extending the cuts in the ferrule into the connector body and opening up the connector body to see if the ferrule can then be pulled out?
  20. The radiator filler cap or header tank filler cap needs to be the highest point of the cooling system including the heater. As a temporary measure, bypass the heater by running one the pipes straight back to the engine and this should cure the airlock. If this works you will either need to move the heater to a lower position remove it completely and blank off the flow and return pipes on the engine or keep the heater and fit a header tank. If you fit a header tank, the radiator cap is not a pressure cap but the one on the header tank is.
  21. Unless anyone else comes up with a better solution, you could try cutting the ferrule in half lengthways and then gently open it up, which will, hopefully, allow you to remove it from the braid. At this point you will see how it was secured (e.g. pins or serrations etc. inside the ferrule) to the braid which may lead to you being able to braze the ferrule up and refit it onto the shortened cable or alternatively it may only be possible to close the ferrule up on the braid without it having been brazed and then fill the cuts up with cold cast bronze.
  22. If you search "dismantle military connectors" you may find a useful site i.e. a page similar to this for your type of connector:- http://constructiontractors.tpub.com/TM-9-2320-302-20-2/TM-9-2320-302-20-20496.htm
