  1. Pete, what types of Militant do you own ? Are they all MK 1 ? What do you know about their history ? Cheers. (and yes, THEY do own you)
  2. Unless you know of a recovery Martian being broken....which I understand you do.... the most difficult parts to source on this list maybe the window frames. Everything else shouldn't be too much of a problem. I'm still waiting for the bloke who may have a N.O.S. dash available to get back to me but I have been told that one of the spares dealers I recommended to Bob also may have new dashes available. Woolies may be able to help with window frame rubber extrusions. They will send you a free catalogue. http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/c-14-rubber.aspx
  3. It certainly looks much better as a ballast tractor. Well, I think it does.
  4. Check out his site. http://fleetdata.co.uk/ http://fleetdata.co.uk/rally.html
  5. Yeah, well, Mr. Jarman is a photographer not a vehicle expert and quite a few of his 'photos are incorrectly described. He has, however, kindly given me permission to post a few of his pix on here.(And he was out with his camera at many shows over the past 15 years)
  6. Me too ! I nearly became involved in a horrendous accident while assisting an "expert" who was unloading a lorry off a low loader trailer. I now do all my own checks even if it gets peoples back up.
  7. I used to own one of these. I think it came in a little cardboard box.
  8. Sorry, here's the link. http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.irsociety.co.uk/Archives/53/Angela.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.irsociety.co.uk/Archives/53/Angela.htm&usg=__tvcEVS5iU1KF2Fhb1-2rG2DpdFo=&h=432&w=576&sz=88&hl=en&start=154&sig2=MvLNkG5y0qu2XmHonN0EfQ&tbnid=KQX5I4K_aZA6CM:&tbnh=101&tbnw=134&ei=mY5qSfCkBsasjAfd982vCA&prev=/images%3Fq%3DScammell%2BPioneer%26start%3D147%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D21%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN
  9. Nor me, these lorry abusers should be rounded up and put on some sort of register. Plenty of examples of this strange behavior near where I live.
  10. Pete, it would be nice to think one, or two, have survived. It's just possible.
  11. Austin, thank you for posting these fabulous pictures. They certainly do look nice. Both appear to be 6 X 4 and, as Simon suggests, both have the early type cabs. A few, maybe three or four, fixed side cargos have survived into preservation but no fuel tankers that I'm aware of. I wonder where these 'photos were taken. Judging from the road position, not in the UK. Germany perhaps ?
  12. If we mean the combined speedo/rev counter that was in everything from the Champ to the Scammell I don't think that will be hard to source. NOS may be possible......I'm hoping to know by tomorrow evening. Getting a good used one would be NO problem at all. There is no reason why this unfortunate Martian shouldn't be back as it was very soon. What else is needed ? Windscreen wiper motors ? Gear/winch lever knobs ? Steering wheel ? Rubber mouldings around windows ? Obviously, windscreens, side windows and seats can all be remade. Any chance of a proper list of all the parts required to get this lorry back on the road ?
  13. What an enormous wooden structure in the background. An aircraft hanger or simply a very large storage shed ?
  14. It would be very interesting to see these pictures if possible. Niels, what is the history of your own Pioneer ? Have you been able to find out much about it ? Cheers.
  15. One of two supplied to the Danish army by the British army just after WW11. About time they gave them back.
  16. While we're on this subject I very highly recommend "Two eggs on my plate" by Oluf Olsen. Mr.Olsen was extraordinarily brave, as were all the men and women Norwegian resistance fighters, and this book details some of his exploits. The "two eggs" in the title refers to the custom of giving two eggs, and not the usual one, at breakfast time to signal that this was the day one would be leaving the training camp in the UK and being parachuted back into Norway. A thrilling read. Just adding this link. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_b?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=Two+eggs+on+my+plate&x=12&y=21
  17. Have you got to the bit where she puts a Leyland 680 in her Explorer ?
  18. Thor698, 'Thor' is "Nightmare ?.....Quite a transformation ! If you don't mind me saying 'Nightmare' did look a bit sinister when all in black. I remember 'Efnick' very well. I think I once saw you in company with 'Efnick' blasting down the A303, probably on your way to a show, one Friday evening. God willing, I should be at this years 'Noggin' and Natter' so look forward to meeting you then. What happened to the very nice sand coloured Explorer that was often at rallies with you and your mates ? It's owner lived on a farm very close to the A303 and very kindly sold me a front winch cable guide for a Scammell.
