My Oy has got 11.00x16 michelin x tyres on it and a couple need changing through bulging and wires poking inside, what are people fitting to their lorries ?, the michelin x's changed to xl but are not available I think anymore, they are good tyres and radial, does anyone know of any for sale or any other type / make available.
Cheers.

Don`t forget to get the valve seats done, I have a six pot Land Rover and have just fitted an electronic distributer from Power Spark, it was £100 including coil and leads and it goes very very well, they do do a change over box that alters the timing for petrol and gas, it runs a little retarded on petrol, but at £180 extra I did not buy it, as I start on petrol and as soon as I can I change over to gas. :-)

Painted, master cylinder back from past parts, work a dream only problem is we found a original steel pipe that was rotted! So had to have one made up.
if you change the carb and inlet manifold to a post war one you will get nearly double the MPG.

my Vac pac did not work so I gave it to Richard Farrant to recondition it for me, my brakes work very well now. :-D

my Grandfather had one of these water tanks and for many years it served as a TVO tank.

hi David, I have a pair of Goodyears as in your photos, they came off the late Cyril Groombridges Bedford OY as he managed to get a pair of NOS ones 2 yrs ago, I will not be fitting them to my OY as I am going to keep the Michelin Radials I have on the lorry, you can have the pair for £50. PM me if your interested.

Hi Graham,
Yep, still in the sand colour and looking looking good.I shall of course take a few spanners with me to France,Just in case !!!! Replaced the timber on rear body behind the cab as that was quite bad, then went on to do some repair work to the cab and now cab is painted and ready to go. Replaced oil seals so it shouldn't cover anybody following me in gear oil ! Just sourcing some windshield rubber and check straps for the doors now. It never missed a beat on the journey back home and she gets a move on! Normandy should be good ,you going ?
Brendan :nut:
I did think about it but I don't think there are any spaces left, I have got the brakes sorted on the OY, the vacpac was seized up, RF sorted for me, he did your K6 as well. good luck
-
you`ve got some bottle, not only driving it back 90 odd miles without a toolbox and now your off with it to Normandy, is it still in sand colour ? after banging my head numerous times on the RSJ are you taking it out for the trip ? regardsThat's a nice looking truck mate.I brought The K6 gantry from Graham and I must say their a nice truck to drive.Just doing some work to the cab and some of the timber on the rear body then it's all ready for Normandy next year !!!! -
by the looks of it you want to turn the rear wheels round as the they should be dished out, and will look a lot better, I had 1100x20 on mine instead of 900x 20 it looks a lot better with the bigger tyres. Loverly looking in sand like my old one was.
I totally agree leg room is great as i'm 6ft plus, but I have to look down to see out of the windscreen. I was going to paint it green but have decided to go with the RAF look as both the vehicles location and its reworking(bomb platform) lend itself to it. I have a friend who used to spray aircraft who will re-spray it for me hopefully at the local raf camp.this is it just before I bought it. There is a picture on here of it during restoration several years ago and there are purists out there that wont like the body on the back. I have plans to sort out the back but iam not a rich man so I will concentrate on keeping it running. I love it ......it makes me smile when iam driving it and there are not many vehicles that do that and it looks good. Hopefully it will look even better in RAF colours :-D[/Q -
:wow:
4500 miles a year! -
and my old K6 Gantry has a new home in Essex, I agree its a loverly looking lorry, with leg room for someone who is 6ft, but I wished they made the windscreen higher as you stoop forward to look out, and the Gantry could do with a 7.5 litre engine :cool2:, where as my OY goes well but I need to be 5ft to fit in the cab. any pics of it ?.

have any of you tried John Morter, as I have just brought the thumb eye on the end of the spring from him and an outer side panel spring, they were both NOS.

I gave up using grease buckets years ago, just use cartridges and buy yourself an Alemite Grease Gun, they are the best :-D regards
-
make sure the plungers turned round from using cartridges and you`ll be fine Paul. :-Dregards
-
hi paul, firstly you need to turn round the plunger rubber if its been used for cartridges and then suck it out of the tub like a syringe, then finish off with a spatula or piece of wood. :-Dregards
-
why don't you just go and have a look at Brians trailer, simples :-D.
-
Thanks Clive.
I had a feeling it was something to do with India.
i was begining to think you`d lost your touch mate, well done
regards
