  1. Someone said what are we going to complain about in 2014. I bet someone says the new grass at Folkestone war and peace is too green. Happy new year.
  2. Never had a problem with my Ferret its a 1962. Every year just apply on line and thats it. However, do make sure you keep a note of your servicing and parts replaced. If in an accident you will be asked to confirm its roadworthy condition. And god forbid but if it is involved in a fatal situation it is very likely that the vehical will undergo close examination by expert examiners.
  3. Hi I am restoring a Ferret and unlikely to get a return for some years. I am off the opinion that you must love what you are doing and that you are a custodian of a vehicle. Keeping it going in memory of those that used them for real. Please see the task as a joy and not a fast buck. My opinion only of course.
  4. Welcome I only joined a few days ago and have already been pointed in the right direction. I started a few years ago my boyhood interest came alive at the war snd peace show. Now have a ferret and hotchkiss jeep and trailer. Makes no sense cant drive them both. So keep your dream alive. Regards Greg
  5. Hi I have the larger one on my mk 1/2 Ferret. It takes my GPMG. Since my Ferret had been sent to the Gulf round 1. I thought it better to retain the later gun. However it has a split personality because inside is the box and wall bracket for the Bren. Enjoy your time with your Ferret just had a class 1 rebuild on mine. Regards Greg
  6. Hi Matt Ferret MK 1/2 00 EA 07 Hull number 3037 Contract FV 506 Code Number 01204120 Equipment ARN IHA05A Regards Greg
  7. Hi Guys Yep thats my Ferret, it was sent to the Gulf in 1991 (however, it may have just sat on the dock) and the original gulf paint could be found below the later NATO sand. It has a spare wheel fitted. I do propose to have bins fitted front and rear but not in the centre. The front screen has now been replaced with a later hatch that takes the night sight. When the engine was out apart from 2 inches of debris we found one spike bayonet, the knob of the comanders seat and the odd shell casing.
  8. It was clearly a major undertaking. And very likely a REME job it started life with the 28 amphibious squadron and ended its time with the Royal Logistic Corp. During the paint removal time I have gone through 13 layers and can confirm that the bumper and ladder have been on there some time. I have been advised that it may have been used for pushing when in Germany. And that it was used as a saluting base hence ladder. I await any firm sightings.
  9. Thanks for the welcome its much appreciated. If anyone has any information on the ferret 00 EA 07 it would be great to hear from you. It is a strange beast it has a ladder on one side and a very large front bumper. The bumper is fitted to the armoured Hull with 19 bolts. So not a quick job. Any information much appreciated.
  10. Hi I would like to introduce myself to you all. I own a Ferret Mk1/2 for the last 6 years and a 1957 Hotchkiss together with trailer. I attend all the military shows in the south of England and next Sunday will be heading to Ciney in Belgium to a military fair held there. It will be an early start catching the 3.20am ferry from Dover. The ferret is undergoing a class 1 overhaul all the inside has been stripped out the inside sanded down and repainted all now being screwed back together again. Regards Greg
