  1. Hello. Is she still available? I would be very interested. Many thanks, Jack.
  2. She is having a Perkins 540 heart and I am having a right mare trying to find out what Allison boxes will fit and be happy. Far to many codes for me to deal with. I know an mt643 will fit but the only ones I've found are from aircraft tugs and I don't know if they are geared down or not. And I've found a 545 on an old Bedford. But I don't know if they share the same stud pattern. They both went on so many different things. The engine I have purchased but not yet collected.
  3. Hello all. Now I'm not sure how you lot will feel about this but here goes. We have on old D series wrecker needing love. She used to drag coaches up and down the 31. So it's a civvie truck. What makes you think I belong here? Well, she is to be sat on mj axles with a CARA 16 crane from a Chieften ARVE. It won't be a short build as my health isn't top notch. But I'll update you as we go if you lot wish. He has names Eric, after my grandfather.
  4. He didn't pick me up on calling him "Johnny".
  5. Very good suggestion Paul!! Hello again. Where abouts in Rome are you John? My brother works out there. I've been planning a trip and finding excuses not to go. We could meet up and I'll pay cash. I much prefer doing business face to face. Many thanks, and hope to see you soon.
  6. Cheers John. What is your PayPal email address? There are far to many scammers out there. I can view and arrange transport. I do alot of vintage vehicle moves. Often end up in the arse hole of nowhere. So going to Orkney really is not trouble. We would relish the trip in all honesty Johnny mate. Many thanks, jack.
  7. A new email!! One I didn't expect. Hi again, Unfortunately I am working in Rome, Italy at the moment for the next few months...and Kirkwall, Orkney is to far away to arrange viewing for each offer i get. I suggest going through PayPal for your peace of mind. We will use PayPal - Pay After Delivery which gives you 14 days for the car to be delivered/inspected before any funds are released to me. Regarding delivery someone will transport it safely to your location. Please read the PayPal (Pay after delivery) terms by clicking on the link below: https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/pay-after-delivery-terms This purchase protection guarantees that the car is exactly as described; basically, once delivered, you'll have 7 days to inspect it and if you decide not to keep it you will get refunded in no time and they will charge me with the return costs. I will get paid only after you confirm that you have received the car in good order. Let me know if you want to go ahead as I still have quite a few more offers from potential buyers. If you do want to go ahead please email me your full name and address along with your daily contact number to get this purchase registered with PayPal - PAD (pay after delivery). P.S - See attached several photos. Regards, John
  8. I think you can't be safe enough with this stuff. At least four points of solid contact with the ground whilst working. And use stuff you are confident in. If you have to question your self it probably isn't suitable. Be safe folks!!!
  9. You are right but that one looks loved, where as the expensive one looks forgotten.
  10. That would be awful! I hadn't considered that. I have had these emails through my Private email. No reply yet. I don't expect one if I'm honest. I found an old nissan like this a few years back. Icouldn't visit it as the seller was poorly and they use Thier own shipper. When asked it was Shipley....
  11. Hello mate, I've just posted my upcoming adventure regarding this in the general chat page. I'm excited to see how it plans out. If it turns out real, it's a deal dreams are made of.
  12. Hello John We are in upper Scotland but would like to view first and we will take her with us when we view should we like. We will just drive her away. And it saves you a few quid in shipping fees. Jack
  13. So Im sure I few of you have seen the stunning militant with a 2800 buy it now. I've managed to get in touch with this mythical seller and now intend to have some fun. Below is the first email from "John". Thank you for your interest. Sorry for the late reply. The car is still for sale and available for viewing in Kirkwall, Orkney - North Scotland. It belonged to my father who unfortunately passed away few weeks ago. All related paperwork are available in my name. My last asking price is £2800 including delivery to your home address. Where abouts are you based? See below some info on the car : AEC MILITANT MK 1 1954 6X4 NEW TYRES ALL ROUND RECENT RE SPRAY ALL ORIGINAL CONDITION YOU CAN DRIVE IT ON A CAR LICENCE ALSO MOT EXEMPT I look forward to your reply. Kind regards, John
  14. It's back up now. Well my every says it is but it's unavailable. It's has been back up at a starting bid of 128 and a buy it now of 2800.
  15. Bit steep for an advert of that...... Quality.
  16. Hello all. Hope you are well. I've bought a Perkins 540 v8 to drop in my wrecker. And I'm after an Allison doc to drop in. I've found a mt643 but it's from an aircraft tug so I don't know if the hearing is different. Also what shifters are required? Can I us the 45 gearbox? I am used to little off roaders so this is all a fun and often confusing learning curve. Many thanks folks.
  17. ok, i will ring up and do some begging! is there anyone who would have experiance with them? also how on earth do i move her?
  18. she hasnt got quite as angular front end. much more like this... http://maltabuses.piwigo.com/picture?/9234/categories
  19. i think you could be onto something with the hippo! she has the same rear windows and she was a crane. how rare is rare? and where on earth do i get parts from?
  20. im not entirly sure she is a matador.... i know very little about them but she could be a mk1 militant

  22. I have been back to the inlaws house so i returned to see her. intetestingly she hasnt got a wooden cab.... it is all metal. she hes no rocker cover and bits an pieces missing. aparently she was driven there where she sits 20 years ago so yee she was a runner. if i could get a rig big enough i could pull her straght forwards and drag her between some trees. now to get the farmer whos field i would have to use on my side! the scrap yard propriator seemed to like the idea of her being rescued. my plan would be to flat bed her in metal frame with wooden bed and bolt a hyab to her and put her to work. what do you think folks? http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/7516/xhot.jpg
  23. sooo we have some progress. now i told a friend of mine who owes me a few favours and he owns european motor transport limited. so soon we will be in the area so collect our old celica supra and he said we can pop round and have a looksy at it, his agrement being if we can get it to the road he will move it for me. what does a matador wiegh with no crane or structure on the back? and is it a no vacume breaks on deal? mite be recruiting a tractor for this one! i think he wants to try and perswade me to fit an 80 ton winch to her and put her to work for him. see how it goes first. cheers folks
  24. me and the misses very nearly bought one of these called jaymac not long ago but couldnt get a marine morgage due to the wooden hull. shame really. she is beutiful btw!
