For those wondering where the James Watkinson 20ton Constructor ended up a friend of mine chopped it out of a tree in 2015 and then sold it to a chap to restore, unfortunately he decided he wasn't going to be able to complete it so yesterday we went and collected the "Ikea" Constructor assembly kit.
Here are the pics:
Here are some moving images with sound!
have fun with the ballast body, keep us updated.

the side ones that move about have gone, the bottom one you can pick the arrow and it goes, just the top one and a few fixed ones dotted in the chats, much better than it was.

Hi Wally, thanks for those pictures, I'm so pleased to have finally found one of these, especially as my dad who is suffering from dementia was part of the user trials when he was in the Royal Engineers back in the early 1950's, it will hopefully stir some memories. Oh by the way Wally the "Beast" is still with us, got pushed on the back burner as the hydraulic tank rotted a few pin holes in the bottom, we haven't had a chance to get that off and fixed yet.

There is the remains of one of these trucks here in Alberta, Canada. Not sure what body is on it but I think it was a comms or enclosed van body from memory. Seller had loads of vehicles all in the tall grass storage and all well absorbed by mother nature but all worth their weight in gold. Totally unreasonable fellow to deal with. Likely when he dies the executors will call the scrap man before the place goes for sale, so common a story.
Yes all to common a story unfortunately, we had a random delivery driver posted pics from our scrap pile without permission a few years ago on face book, i was surprised at the number of people that than posted messages implying it belonged to a hoarder, would never sell anything, had over inflated ideas of value, would rather see them rot, etc etc was quite funny, but i do get why they thought that. little did they know that that row of scrap trucks sacrificed themselves for the sheds full or restored and running trucks, that are in my secret Hoard haha. Now and again I now post bait posts on face book of a nice tuck saying, "about to be cut" wind them up and watch them go! haha

yeah they aren't even things people on this site would buy, like spanners or gaskets! right now I have one for Fisker, On Logic computers magnitude finance and hawk classic on instagram. they are now all on my list of "never buy from" companies.

I will have to try something, it puts me right off using the site, you get them on on line newspapers a lot, so I never look at them anymore.

So anyhow. Does anyone know what the end result was. For the fabled Nazi Gold train, buried in a tunnel abroad?....😎
It's in a railway siding on Atlantis, built over a pit with 200 Canadian built Churchills in it, easy to find just turn left when you get to the crated Malaysian Spitfires and my Dads Crated Jeeps, and B17 Engines, don't trip over the piles of Amber room panels though they are delicate. Sorry Andy, but that statement makes as much sense as all the rest of this post. You still think everyone is against you, but everyone in this forum and the developers would be over the moon if these tanks where real.

haha we know you are just messing us about, but as it takes only about 20 seconds to look through all your old posts, and oh surprise, no pictures of diggers right back to when you joined the HMVF. did the government have them deleted I ask myself?
If you have been genuine in you approach and the tanks had existed you would have been a hero by now, but doesn't look like that does it. I have found the people on this site are very helpful knowledgeable and resourceful, and bend over backwards to help anyone with a problem or question. Shame your approach hasn't inspired the same result, there might be a reason for that.

Hi re pic of digger the thread was split you'll have to scroll Back on the main listing as I had split the thread in two.from the out set I came to gather information not to impart it in the hope that someone would be able to through some light on the subject ,this through no fault of my own due in part people asked question as you might expect and I answered them to the best of my ability not that I was determined to bludgeon those who inquired into accepting my answers it was just common decency to reply ,wether or not they took it on board was niether here or there...1400 well you have like everybody else wouldn't want to here the rest of the details .it's up to the individual to decide what to make of it .
split the thread? so where is that other thread then? we have all been following it since 2016 when you first started it but never seen another thread on the subject, and I see you are back to the "not telling you" option haha. i guess we have to shout "I Believe" and take the leap of faith off the cliff before the truth is revealed!

yes we did it, Humber FV1600 engine, just swapped the pump, pipework and the sump. very straightforward.
oh yes and the drive components, dry plate to the ferrets fluid flywheel, for us it was just a case of sitting the 2 engines beside each other and swapping all the relevant parts.

None of this supports your theory that the tanks were buried. Why remove data plates and bury tanks when the government is concerned about a Soviet invasion? And, again, insults - who are the G&T Oxford brigade? How about explaining how you went from 326 tanks to 1400? Where's the picture of you and a digger on this thread? Where is the second pit? What is your explanation for choosing a live air station for secret burial when there were masses of empty government-owned bits of land all over the place? Why the inconsistencies regarding the tanks: some German ones apparently in your early post, some Bren carriers and Oxfords, loads of spares, some rubbish about lend-lease or having to pay the Canadians. Offer us some answers to those questions. But, I'm afraid, Paul Connor has hit the nail on the head: he's given scientific proof that there are no tanks buried at Waterbeach - proof, not opinion, assumption or speculation which is all you have been able to counter with. We aren't ganging up on you, we aren't secretly working to undermine you on behalf of Lord Hammond, it is just that we think you have deliberately toyed with us which, as I have told you before, I find rude and insulting and nothing you have said makes any coherent sense - on any level: the tanks aren't there and you could come up with no reason why they should be. Sadly, I think your dad was pulling your leg!
My dad had a good story when i was a kid about buried new crated Jeeps and B17 Engines on the airbase near us, he said he watched them bury them, and i believed him 100%, In my teens and learning about WW2 local history I started to think that didn't make much sense. About 20 odd years ago an aviation group found the pit and dug it up, no crated jeeps or engines, but lots of battle damage scrap and general camp waste, just like on every other airbase.

what was the outcome of Andy's forum post about Cobham Common? it had a similar conspiracy thread to it?

A few excerpts from..
August 1948 cabinet preparations for defence
Memorandum by the prime minister
The defence of the United kingdom
Defence of essential communications
Defence of middle east
Bases for u.s strategic air force in UK and middle east stocking of Airfields in EAST ANGLIA
Should war break out ,or its threat become imminent at any time in the next six to nine months ,fairly extensive plans have already been prepared ,and are being perfected every week - for a crash mobilisation..
Specific attention to the recall of war time A/A crews where ever possible
Actions in response to the meetings of foreign ministers in Moscow promote the need to safeguard what we have and under take to supply what will be needed
Anti aircraft ammunition
The rate of production should be built up to the following level
5.25he. 10.000 per month
3.7mark 1v he 5000per month
3.7mark111 he. 30,000 per month
Small arms ammunition should be raised from 200 million rounds to 400 million
Bomber airfields ....
Four additional airfields should be prepared in the UK for the use of U/S heavy bombers
Fighter aircraft
Additional orders placed for jet fighters venoms and or meteors ,..piston engine fighters held in sock to be bought to a state of readyness and supply's of spares will be required for same...
The lists go on covering everything from steel production shipping refurs ,radar up grades , labour distribution ,.construction materials ,production of respirators ,vehicle produçtion , etc,ect
So this was pie in the sky ....according to the g and t Oxford brigade ....
Yes we all know there where war plans, lots of which are now public, and bunkers all over the place etc etc, not sure how this links with loads of WW2 tanks buried under a concrete slab and future political implications. fill in the dots please Andy we are all dumb here. If Russia invaded not sure how we would did them out after Waterbeach had been hit by a 500Kt warhead.

What Andy fails to grasp in his games since 2016 is that there are many professional members of this forum who are very knowledgeable in military history, archology, politics, logistics, etc, many from military backgrounds, and we would love more than anything for the story, of was it 326? buried tanks to be true. But even after 7 years Andy still hasn't given us the evidence that he claimed to have back at the start on the conversation. he has drip fed information, and as each one was disproved he has excused the answer and modified the story, just like the conspiracy theory that it is. As a keen follower of history and geopolitics I'm still waiting with bated breath to find out what the controversial future political implications of finding these tanks are that Andy mentioned back in 2019.
-
Like i said in one of my earlier reply's, I've spoken to the MD of the comapny doing all the work, and he said he'd love to find all these tanks, it would make world wide news, and they could have put on on a plinth. but alas there aren't any.
-
Cutting trenches across the runways and hard standings would probably been to make sure the explosive pipe charges had been removed, often fitted just in case the cold war turned hot and we had to destroy runways to prevent their use. probably not on your information, as to be honest other than conspiracy theories you haven't actually given any information yet.

Well, that are gutted they haven't found anything, the world wide publicity would have been amazing for the company, not to mention the current value of the complete vehicles and the value of the scrap of any rubbish.
