  1. Thanks Richard. One day I may learn how to do it myself, ha ha.
  2. My daughter, in Australia, sent me a link to a fascinating video of an old boy in Queensland who built and runs a sawmill. I am not clever enough to upload it here, but if anyone wishes to give it a go, it can be found by searching for ABC news Vintage Mill. I would thoroughly recommend watching it but caution that it contains facts about rare machinery that may make some people jealous! Steve.
  3. It’s amazing what is out there, but sometimes it’s pure luck to find it. Thanks for posting.
  4. I’ve just come across a short video of the Bedford TM, made by the BBC for Blue Peter. Interesting in itself, but at 6 min 43 secs there is a clip of the cricket doing it’s thing. I am unable to upload it, but if anyone with the nous wishes to, just search for ‘Cross country champion - Bedford TM 4x4 military truck.
  5. I don’t know, but my guess would be a spring (like a curtain spring), sewn into the hem. I’ve seen similar in other applications. Steve.
  6. A work of art and good to know the old skills exist, even if few and far between. Thanks for posting and keeping us armchair enthusiasts enthralled. Good luck and best wishes, Steve.
  7. Bexhill is in East Sussex, but Bexley and Bexleyheath were at that time in Kent.
  8. In case anyone sees this, the lever-arch file is now taken.
  9. Hello Lex. I had hoped to get you started by offering you the callipers from the top of the list, but so far have been unable to put my hand on them (too many hidey- holes). I will probably have other bits and bobs, but not always with the broad arrow, such as a 1/2” belly brace. I live in Maidstone, Kent, so not sure how best to get stuff to you, but if you seriously want to fill the box I’m sure there’s a way. Regards, Steve.
  10. Thanks MatchFuzee, I’m not very good with technology.
  11. Just advertised on Facebook Marketplace, 2 off cycle lamps, if anyone needs some. Sorry, I can’t put a link to it. Steve.
  12. That certainly is quite a bridge and thank you for posting the pictures. I suspect your father was attached to the Royal Engineers rather than REME, as they were the usual bridge builders.
  13. Thanks to all for the info. on the cleaning rod, and yes, it is brass.
  14. As above, the tools are taken. Any interest in the lever arch file?
  15. Just replied to your PM, so they are yours. Steve.
  16. Yes, that must be a good possibility.
  17. Thank you Richard. Perhaps someone may have a use for it.
  18. A round of decluttering has thrown up a handful of random items for which I have no use. All free to a good new owner. No military markings on the tools but they probably came from the REME workshop on the Ha Ha Road site in Woolwich. Lever arch file definitely acquired in Woolwich. One of the hook spanners is marked ‘Girling’, so presumably brake related. The spanner is marked ‘Wolseley’ and is 1 3/32” (18mm) O/J and 2 1/16” (52mm) ring. The plastic ruler is for scale but can be included, ha ha. Any use to anyone, all together or separately? Steve.
  19. Excellent workmanship, thank you for posting and power to your elbow. Steve.
  20. This reminds me of an incident in about 1979 when I was in Osnabruck. The regiment was about to go on exercise and the tanks (chieftain) were all bombed up. The loader/op in the CO’s tank slipped whist climbing into the turret and impaled his buttock on an AP round. Don’t know if it would have been worse if it had gone in his rectum, but it made everyone wince when they heard it. Still makes me wince now.
  21. I imagine that being 12volt would rule out military radios too.
  22. Thanks for that. Perhaps someone will want it.
  23. Two 3-pin plugs, an MK junction box (unused) and a cable assembly with a NATO stock number: 6625-99-104-7155. If anyone knows what they are used for and/or would like them, they are going to the lowest bidder (ie: free). Steve.
  24. Thanks Jayvee, I couldn’t see any arrows or fv numbers, but thought it worth a punt, in case anyone wanted them. If there are no takers after a few days they will go for recycling.
