Took the Ford GPW out for a spin today. When we parked up we noticed that there was quite a puddle of oil on the ground near the back of the engine.

 

On inspection there was quite a strong drip coming from the back of the engine where the bell housing joins it (it is a bit mangled back there so there is small gap, but this is the first time it has been leaking so much)

 

Doesn't seem to leak as fast when the engine is running...

 

Is this going to be the Main Rear seal of the engine or something else?

First check if it's engine oil or gear box oil you can smell the difference, but suspect you may be right.

If your taking weapons for Display purposes only then all "old spec" deactivated weapons are ok, the new EU rules do not stop you owning or displaying them. Selling/Exchanging etc is where the problems may start.

I occasionally get a violent shudder through the body at those speeds but feel nothing through the steering it only lasts a few seconds then stops. I have never been able to find the problem either.

I have managed to put the clutch back together on my DKW RT98 but I'm not sure how much oil is needed does anyone have any idea.

Mines an Autolite but the kits fit both.

Dont know if any ones interested but just upgraded my GPW to electronic ingnition so easy to do only took 10mins and didn't have to adjust timing, just started and ran fine work on 6 or 12 volt. Once you fit rotor arm and cap you can hardly see a difference.
