  7. Just to go over the history of my scammell that I know. I brought it back from Belgium to the uk last year 2014. it came over with the reg number DEA768 on the vehicle and on its Belgium log book and chassis number 5343 which is present on the vehicle. From what I have been told by DVLA and others on here DEA768 was issued as a civilian reg number in West Bromwich uk 1948. So presumably after the war it came back home and was sold in to civvy street. The Belgium reg document it came over with states, ( registered 1984 Belgium ). I think this is when it last hanged hands before me. The years in between are un known to me at the present time. Neil
  8. Would I be right to assume from the response that this is not an original military marking and just something some one has put on years ago?
  9. Its been a good sunny day here in kent today so i decided to do some work on my scammell. I took the Kids with me down the yard to give them a bit of fresh air and a ball to keep them occupied. I had been replacing some of the wood on the boxes at the back when i herd an almighty bang as the ball the kids were kicking bashed the nearside door. after shouting some demanding words at them like, clear off! i got down and had a look to see if it had damaged any thing and noticed a small bit of blue paint and a black line showing on the door. the ball had chipped off a bit of paint on the door so i got out a plastic scraper and continued to chip off the old hard paint to reveal this. Has any one got any ideas on what it is? it uncovered a bit more of its history which i probably would not of found, My apologies Kids!!
  10. Thats fantastic , I wasn't very confident i would ever be able to find its military number thanks. unfortunately there is no rebuild plate present. is it posible to find out if it was given a post war registration and what it might be, or could it be DEA768. It just shows you there is a wealth of knowledge on here and all you have to do is ask. thanks again. Neil.

  18. Hi I've just brought a pioneer from Belgium. It has no number plate and the build plate on the near side front chassis rain has gone missing years ago looking at the amount of paint where it should be . The paperwork I have says the chassis number is M05343 and build year is 1943. Is the number located anywhere else on the vehicle and can any one tel me any thing about that number because it's also painted on the doors like a military number. any help greatly appreciated .

  21. Hi folks My name is Neil. Im new here not only to HMVF but the modern tech world of computers. yeah just got my first one and don't really know how this all works, ive got 4 kids and they are showing me!! Quite sad really as the youngest is 3 and even she seems to know. Im a mobile mechanic in kent repairing cars commercials and heavy plant, i spend all my spare time tinkering in my garage, I've spent the last few years restoring a rare 2.0l diesel series one safari landrover, and am now looking for a commercial vehicle project. The scammell pioneer has always made me gasp when I've seen them at show and now I have decided i want to be part of there history. I am limited to space now and will be looking to do a rolling restoration, so hoping to find an unfinished project or some thing that's not a wreck. If any one knows of such a beast I would be glad to know. Rgds Neil.
