Excellent set you have there, I love this period of kit ,and its still out there if you keep looking,very nice indeed.

Thanks for your comments,I was,nt very clear in my description,the smock has pockets on both arms,the normal what I understand to be a pen pocket,common to gs and para smocks as well as windproofs,and the smaller pouch type first field dressing pocket on the right arm,which as Paul states dates the garment to post 1984.Mind you I also have an arctic smock in the older material,with afformentioned arm pockets,label with makers name in metric 180/104,but it also has rank tabs front AND back,which again I thought had dissapeared post 84.I have been after one of the "sas" smocks for a while and was very pleased when I got it ,as its in such good condition,a smashing garment.

Recently aquired sas windproof smock circa 1984(it has field dressing pocket on arm).The actual material though is of the older pattern late 70,s 80,s type unlike most post 84 smocks.This is as new so quite rare I think in this condition.Its an excellent smock and only cost me £10.00:-\.I have an arctic smock also in this material but post 84 and two later arctic ones where the inner material is more white and there is no manafacturers name only contract number.Very pleased with it , and a nice addition to the collection.

Brilliant,I,ve allways admired large scale remote control military vehicles,I,ve dabbled in 1/6 figures,but sadly lack the skills to build anything as good as these vehicles..

Only aware of Silvermans 68 pattern ,but if anybody did a 60 pattern it would be great.Unfortunatly the originals are out of my price range now,unless I strike very lucky!!

What a fantastic haul of kit.Rare and as you say especially so in large sizes.That windproof smock is excellent,i still dream of finding items like these,but it goes to show its still out there.Could I just ask is it the original zipper on the smock do you know?

Sounds just like the kit The guys I knew had.I did,nt word my thread very well ,I was,nt TA myself but the two mates were whos kit I saw.

Hopefully,although if I,m still around then, I wonder if they ,ll let me keep the collection in the care home.lol.

Having thought more about this , all of the examples I have are used condition,I don,t know what the policy is now,I remember in the 1970,s used kit was often reissued ,sometimes several times over ,especially dpm jackets,not so much trousers if I recall.And a couple of mates I knew back in the 80,s in the T.A used to be issued some really worn kit,clothing and 58 webbing.( and I mean worn).

I have heard several serviceman mention this about mtp,and I agree it does seem odd that it is already freely available quite legitimately through surplus outlets,( all of these items I obtained through surplus high street and online shops).It was released I believe around July time officially as surplus.I wonder does anyone have any idea why this situation is so?.

I never really intended to obtain any mtp kit as my interest is mainly pre 90,s.However I recently obtained a nice early set of mtp lightweight jacket, trousers and windproof smock for a very reasonable price.These are the first pattern based on soldier 95 kit style,and have now been superceded by pcs improved style kit.( I wonder if they will become as rare as dpm 1960 pattern,if they do I don,t think I,ll benefit , as in the same time scale I will be about a hundred lol).Any way a nice addition to the collection with the potential to be a bit rare in time.The lightweight jacket and trousers are marked tropical,and the jacket although identical to s95 dpm lightweight jacket does not have a zip fitted only button front( I seem to recall prototype 95 jackets were designed like this).

Nice garment there,I have noticed these before and I allways think the colours remind me as being similar to some early pattern 68 smocks I have,pictured here.

Lovely example and in a good size too.I too can,t resist a 68 pattern,its almost a compulsion to buy one if I see it.I try though to restrict it to the earliest patterns which have the most interesting colours and features.

What an excellent and unusual item,I never even knew they existed.I have an og one,1960 pattern,and even that I found by chance.

Very nice and unusual too.Is it made in the temperate 94 pattern dpm print.

Picked up a rather nice , if a bit worn,earlyish dpm Para smock from War and peace revival ,for a fiver!.Its not too bad actually, cuffs a bit worn, and a few scratches etc,but all complete,and a good size 180/96.This is the version with the pen holder pocket on the left arm , but absence of a field dressing pocket on the right as per later versions,although the nsn starts 8514 ( I think , as label a bit faded).Has a green drop zone flash (3 Para) correct me if I,m wrong.This is the first Para smock I have owned and its a nice garment which will stay in my collection.On a slightly different note I picked up (also for a fiver) a used lightweight mtp jacket,more out of curiosity and to compare to my dpm and ddpm items than anything.But I think I,ll keep it at that,as otherwise where will it all end ,as I believe mtp was released onto the surplus market last Monday so I heard. However I,ll stick to pre 90,s kit as I allways have as it holds greater interest to me .

I remember many years ago late 1970,s I had a very similar jacket to this I bought from millets outdoor shop.The only difference was mine had a rough wool type lining and press stud front on the flap over the zipper.But the outer material was identical to the issue dpm of the time , even down to the unusual smell of new dpm,I,m sure you know what I mean.So could it possibly be a civilian copy using issue material ?(it certainly looks like original pattern material,as do the buttons).Hope this helps. Still, an unusual garment.!

Very nice and very rare set you have there.I have an almost new set I posted on here some time ago size 5 smock and size 2 trousers,in the later pattern(oval elbow patches etc,and more generous shoulder cut.)As you state the material on mine has much less of a sheen than earlier types.These og 60 pattern items are my favourite items of kit in the collection,classic gear.

Nice find, so far a reasonably priced Para smock has elluded my collection,still one day .One of my gs 68 pattern gs smocks has matched material with slightly differnt shade and dot pattern on the arms,and rest of smock the non dotted print.(this was an H Lottery,made smock).

I,ve got a couple of early 68 gs smocks and a 60 pattern in this shade of dpm,its one of my favourite versions,very nice Para smock example there.

This one is identical to my other arctic smock , the only difference being that mine is 180/96 size,and the maker is Dashmore clothing.It dates from the early nineties.Also with regard to my earlier mid eighties smock,the material seems more like the lighter dpm found on the late seventies early eighties type,where the dpm pattern is quite discernable on the reverse or inside of the material,where as my early nineties smock is more whiter on the inside.Also the buttons on the eighties example are shiny,wheras on the later one they are duller,similar to those found on the gs temperate smock also issued from about 1994.Hope this makes sense/helps.:-)

On my arctic smock the hood is rolled back into a tight sausage shape and the two cords are then threaded through the cord loop used to hang the smock up with pulled tight and tied in a knot to keep the hood secure.(hope this makes sense). On some Royal Marine smocks they often fold the hood the opposite way inwards to create a thick collar but secure it the same way.

I,ve got one almost identical,I say almost as mine is the arctic version,with wired hood and rank tabs front and rear,and same maker on label. Mine dates from mid eighties.It also has field dressing pocket on right sleeve which I understand also dates it as 1984 onwards.Thats a nice smock you have there.

Just picked these up,a very nice pair of the later 1960 pattern combat trousers almost new,(still have white tags with machinists number on). I have a size 5 jacket in the same condition that I have had some time,and these compliment it nicely.I must say,if I had a choice the olive green 1960 kit is definatly my favourite item of clothing,almost iconic you could say.Sorry for quality of label pic , I just could,nt get it in focus.
