The plastic clips are cheap and nasty, its a gearbox removal to fit them, a common fix is to weld a metal strip that holds the clutch ball in place. As even removing the clutch slave cylinder can break the plastic clip. A 16p clip and your off the road.
I have the User Handbook and EMERs, im near Sheffield, will do Yorkshire war time and if possible War time in the Vale which is more your territory. I knew you were moving but hadn't realised you went to Wales. Hope all is well there. Thank you Clive, will pm you. Nigel.
Thank you Clive, its wonderful to have a piece of history, I have the brake cylinders to change, a general service and front hydraulic hatches to get working. Then run my Pig, want to show it and enjoy driving it. Is it possible to send me a copy of the record card, can that be done with a pm. Thank you once again Nigel.
The work your doing is fantastic, from the rusty starting point to what has been achieved now is truly wonderful. Keep up the great restoration. Nigel.
Thank you Clive, I have found in some paperwork that my Humber was a missile platform, since you high lighted it. I will get photos when I have daylight to record them. Nigel.
Hi Clive, can you explain on its history a little please. I will sort some pictures for you, for as I know Wheatcroft bought 4 from the ministry and I have owned it ever since, 07/08/93. Its totally untouched inside and out, apart from I had to cut the left hand rear aerial mount off to get past my house. Nigel.
I have a Humber Pig mk2 up armoured, not been touched for 20 years, it still has the lot number and blue cross painted on the front, registration 21BK96. I am the first owner after the Wheatcroft Collection purchased 4 from the Ministry. Engine running correctly now, brakes to do next. Nigel.
Fill bearings with a light general purpose grease, then squirt few shots of 90 grade oil with oil can, preload bearings and back off the nut, so bearings run smooth without any vertical movement of hub.
Wanted a new, or as new Land rover 109 full canvas in plain army green, to swap for a new 110 full canvas in army green with all the poles and door fixtures. Pm me please.
Hi Clive, hope your having a good time. Is it possible to post a picture if your Pig while at the show. Always good to see a fellow Humber owner enjoying him self. Best regards Nigel.
Great pictures. Got my 980 started last week, first time in over 3 years. Ran half hour with very little smoke. Had to manually put starter into mesh. Have found a broken wire and foot switch needs cleaning with sw not making contact. All exciting.
A good hydraulic specialist will have the parts, fittings and pipes so suit your requirements. a tee piece fitted where the oil warning light is will give the opening for your instrument and the warning light adaptor will verify the thread.
Pre load the wheel bearings by feel to just take any play out, with the inner lock nut. Then back off 1 flat, fit the locking tab and outer locking nut. Bending to lock inner and outer nuts together. this will leave the bearings tight enough, to pass an mot and you wont be readjusting the week after when settled down !
