  2. I can across the attached as always while looking for something else.

It is the user handbook for the Bedford R 3 tonner. If it is of any use to anyone restoring one please let me know.

Hope this is the right place for this apologies if not please fell free to move it to where it should be.

    Cheers

Wow!  They're excellent, thanks, Kevin  Big beasts aren't they?  And that must be one half of the 240mm gun - like some sort of siege engine!  I am busy digging out pictures of the less usual vehicles in British service at the moment, just another little research cul de sac which I am following - or bee in the bonnet if you prefer.  I have just come across some pictures of FWD HAR1s for example - a type I knew little of - apart from a brief mention in Bart Vanderveen's book - apparently they were used by RPC smoke generating units and, sure enough, I found a photo of one with such a smoke generator.  The other great gap in photo availability seems to be vehicles in use by British forces in Burma and the Far East - where there was a preponderance of US vehicles such as the Dodge WCs which were rather less common in British markings closer to home.  Which reminds me of a fascinating series of photos I came across of Dodge Power Wagons with post-war British ERMs - in service with the Trucial Oman Scouts, I think they were.  All good stuff, but a bit off-topic from the M6s - sorry!

Yes these are the only photos I have come across of the M6 in British service, there may be others around but haven't found them yet. The line of M6's is apparently in Liverpool after they were off loaded, hopefully somewhere there shipping documents listing all the numbers not sure if there are on line files of US lend-lease equipment. Photos of heavy stuff guns and lorries do seem to be few and far between.

  4. It would be nice to see one of these with a British census number. I know to 10 used by 61st Super Heavy Regiment RA. H5849538, H5849539, H5849543, H5849549, H5849551, H5849561, H5849562, H5849565, H5849822 and H5849823. There are 3 others that I have come across which must be from a Super Heavy Regiment but do not know which one. H6164822, H6164823 and H6164827. Hope it is of some interest to someone.

    Cheers

  5. Thanks LarryH57,

The WWII file has been an ongoing project for more years than I can remember and will probably never be finished but each year, from various sources and contributions, more than 100 new entries are added. The aim would be to tie each name to a regiment and census number.

The Pre and Post WWII files are complied by Dick Taylor with additional contributions.

If you can add anything to any of the files please post and they will be added to Version 9 and you will be credited as the source.

     Cheers

i have also made this kit its ok but there is no ammo racks inside i scratch built them

    Hi Jerry,

I dug this one out of a box of all the kits from the dark side. I don't really have any books or reference diagrams of German stuff so it was OOB..I haven't bought a German piece for well over a decade everything I make now is WWII  Allied and nearly all post D-Day.

  7. Hi Rupert,

Despite the various issues with the kit, with a little TLC it is a nice model to build. Some of the issues I pointed out apparently were not wrong on Airfix's part, namely not having mattresses on the lower "bunk" they were only on the top "bunk". The two I made from styrene sheet were not glued down so can fortunately be removed.

As to models I make I do try to find good WWII photos to base to subject on.

    Cheers

  8. Hi Bob,

Thank you for that. My immediate thought when I saw the name was the Crusader AA, especially as I have HAVOC and HOTSPUR,  but the turret plates look to be welded not riveted / bolted on. It looks to be the front righthand section of the turret, opposite side to attached photo.

If you don't mind me asking where did this come from, are there anymore markings on the hull?

    Cheers

  9. Other than the glaring errors such as the tyres, census number and all the missing internal bits generally it was a nice kit to build. The decals, other than the issue with the census number, were really smooth with more or less no edge to them. I am not sure about the style of red cross markings on the rear doors but have gone with the instruction suggestions. It does not have the finesse of the Gecko kit and could be improved up on.

    Cheers

  10. The curiosity finally got the better of me and I decided to look and see what short of state all axis stuff was in that I put in a 2' x 2'' x 2' box probably over 20+ years ago. i only managed to reach 2 kits the Italeri RSO/01 kit no. 227 and the attached Sdkfz 234/4 by Italeri kit no.255. Remarkably both were still in one piece with only the right rear indicator missing from the armoured car. I can see that the jerry cans are undersize and will need replacing. I was looking for the 234/3 but could not get at it ( this is in the junk room and hard to get at). At the moment I don't currently have the space to get them all out and repair/re-paint/ update.

    Cheers

  11. This is the Sovereign 2000 resin and white metal kit S2KV001

I would like to thank Marc Day from Sovereign for his help with this. When I decide to complete this I realised that for some reason I was missing the 2 front wheels. I contacted Sovereign and Marc told me that the kit had been out of production for at least 10 years but kindly put himself out and managed to find a pair that he sent FOC. Thank you Marc. I am told that Sovereign no longer use white metal.
This is the first Axis piece I have completed in more years than I can remember so apologies to you Axis guys if there is anything wrong. I have added a few bits and pieces, the tracks are from Dragon ( I had swapped the metal tracks with the AFV Club SdKfz 11 kit years ago ), the spare wheel is from the AFV kit too, brass rod made up the rack on top, tilt, grab handles and foot steps on the rear, hood is lolly pop sticks covered with filler all other bits are from the spares box.
    Comments and suggestions appreciated.

KING JOHN is I think was a Resicast upper hull with a donor lower hull. Tracks are from Dragon, stowage from the spares box. The name is seen a a Kangaroo in IWM film Battle For The Rhineland (pt 1) at around 16.30 minutes. The figures are a mix of Tamiya, Dragon, Bronco, Riich and Gecko. The census I must admit I cannot confirm that it is correct for KING JOHN

TYRANT is from an image kindly sent to me by Bill Miller and seems to show the TYRANTs' demise. I started this over 20 years ago and have only just got around to completion stage. The upper hull and running gear is from Formations when it was Rob Ervin's baby, sorry I took so long to finish it Rob. Lower hull is either Italeri or Tamiya with Formations fittings. Tracks are by Panda, are these still available? Figures and stowage are as above.
The Formations kit and Panda tracks are lovely to work with with excellent detail.

    Cheers

  13. Had these for quite a few years so I thought I would give them a dust off and touch up of stowage and figures.
These are from S Model and Italeri Models. The Stag with the two crew is a bit of a mix of S Model / Bronco / Italeri. Crew figures are from Tamiya, MiniArt, Bronco and the stowage is a mix of Tamiya, Bronco, Resicast, MiniArt, Italeri and probably quite a few others. The base is from MiniArt with some additions.

    Cheers
