  1. It could be worth getting in touch with the Falklands. When I was stationed down there about 6 years ago there was somebody doing up the AMX's that had been left. We helped him out with getting some sheet steel into the country as I ran the logistics hub at the time. He had a huge amount of parts for these and not enough hulls for them. Maybe an ad in the Falklands Times will dig something up?
  2. 245 will be a Julian Calendar Date code. 1st or 2nd of September depending on if it was a leap year or not.
  3. Hi, I have a copy of this as a pdf Is this any good? Adam
  4. We used these extensively in the field with the support helicopter force when I was in the RAF. Used for powering up the main site to give lighting, power etc. I do remember they were not that reliable as I was always having to order circuit boards for them from back at Odiham. They are quite heavy as well and needed a DAF or Bedford to move them about.
  5. Shows up in Google Maps too: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Kharkov,+Kharkiv+Oblast,+Ukraine&hl=en&ll=50.022555,36.192731&spn=0.005466,0.013937&sll=49.9935,36.230383&sspn=0.350049,0.891953&oq=kharkov&hnear=Kharkiv,+Kharkiv+Oblast,+Ukraine&t=h&z=17
  6. It looks superb. You should be very proud of that. Look forward to the updates as they come.
  7. Bit of a thread resurrection this but in answer to your question the "big wheels" are actually APFC's or Air Portable Fuel Containers. They are towed behind vehicles when on the ground (at slow speeds) using the drawbar. We still use them today in the RAF managed by TSW (Tactical Supply Wing) based at RAF Stafford. Hope that helps.
  8. I checked the computer records today and 13AY57 is not recorded anymore online.
  9. Thanks for the welcome folks, Hard to belive that I would still like anything military but when time and funds allow I will eventually own something in green of my own. A big lover of anything tracked. Have access to all the current vehicle docs etc so shout if you need anything looking up. Adam
  10. Hi all, Only fair that after making a few posts I introduce myself. I'm a currently serving member of the RAF, logistics trained but working in a business improvement role. A veteran of Iraq, Afghanistan, Yugoslavia, NI and Sierra Leone and various other skirmishes! A lover of all things military! I hope I will be able to help anybody out with questions etc with regard to current kit, vehicles etc. Look forward to joining a thread soon. Adam
  11. Hi, The glass case on the front is a tool tag board. It should have little hooks for tool tallies. Each technician has his own number when booking out tools. The metal flap could be a local modification, not sure on that one but sometimes they had them for storing pieces of metal for ABDR work. I towed one of these for 300 miles once across the desert and it was a terrifying experience as it built up a nasty swing when loaded quickly. They were taken out of service due to serious instability issues which led to a few rolling over. I guess the top heavy layout didn't help. The tools aren't particularly anything special. Tends to be a lot of metal working tools, rivets guns, air tools etc. You cam match them up or remove the foam and then cut out shadows for your own tools. One of the worst jobs in the world cutting out shadows for tools. Yours looks to be an ex 33sqn RAF Puma trailer based at RAF Benson, a guy in my office is from 33 at Benson and is an airframe technician will ask him, he probably knows your particular trailer. Hope that helps Adam
  12. Maybe an early Flimsy container or one that has been modified into a "Benghazi Burner". The second picture appears to show lots of holes in it.
