  1. I personally think content is more important than format. I have always struggled though with magazines that have been converted to an online format - it just doesnt seem to work for me, but might work if designed that way from scratch I suppose. I used to buy both mags pretty much every month, and on balance preferred MMI as it had more variety. I stopped buying as the prices kept going up but the amount of time it took me to read them got less and less. I get pretty much what I need now from this forum and some of the facebook groups. One thought has just struck me though is that these mags were much more valuable and interesting to me when I first got into the hobby, and I am not sure a website would have pulled me in the same way - the point is you have to look for a website whereas a mag you might just happen to pick up while you are waiting for a train or similar... As for the just WW2 thing...well I dont get that at all - why would you seek to reduce an already fairly niche circulation!?
  2. Still seems very reasonable John! Reading this post has made me even more convinced that sticking with CVRT's is the right thing for me! It is good that there are people like Paul willing to take these things on though, so good luck with it...
  3. Well I dont know about these two, but I posted a while ago about the two operated out of Dewsbury, and the same fella had a Martian wrecker. http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?18513-The-Dewsbury-Diamond-T-s&highlight=Dewsbury+diamond There was also another 980/981 under a sheet on the Leeds Road in a lorry garage, just on the border between Norristhorpe and Liversedge. It is parked next to an explorer/ pioneer also sheeted up and as of this morning was still visible on crapple maps. Not a bad haul for a 5 mile radius!
  4. Milweb in particular does seem to be very prone to this sort of thing - whenever I put ads up on there I get a fair number of obviously fake responses. Thankfully they are mostly pretty easy to spot if you have your wits about you!
  5. Amazing to see them still attached, given the engines propensity for self destruction! I always liked the 2 seater night fighter with the 4 x 30mm cannon - 3 hits were supposedly enough to bring down a heavy bomber....scary stuff and a good job the Luftwaffe didn't have so many of them..
  6. I have not tried them but this place seems phenomenal value... http://www.sgs-engineering.com/garage-equipment/engine-stands
  7. Hi Joe The praise was indeed meant for Tim - not sure why I quoted you but it's been a long week! Tim
  8. Wowser, now that is bent! I would not like to see the state of what it hit!
  9. Outstanding work - you are a lucky man to have a friend with all those parts in his shed!!
  10. Most that I have seen seem to have the rather smoother pale green material....
  11. Just noticed that - also doesn't appear to have any exhausts, although the holes are there!
  12. I have some in Yorkshire, pm me if interested.... Cheers Tim
  13. Robin As a bit of an aside, but still related, I came across this today, I think it is rather tempting, and certainly less hassle than the real thing.! http://www.tankzone.co.uk/cart/allmetal18_chief.htm Cheers Tim
  14. I will be there, but as usual more for a gossip than anything else! Cheers Tim
  15. I presume these are the earlier mirrors as described. As already said they do give a surprisingly good view for their size, due to the very convex nature of the glass. I am not sure I would want to use them on the road though. The main reason I keep them is because I think they look more stylish and in keeping with the vehicle!
  16. Very true Mike very true - I've now changed 3 CVRT engines under my own steam, not a difficult task some might say but I'm an accountant fer chris sake! Oh, and no it wasn't the same vehicle...!
  17. Mike Whilst I pretty much agree with you about hitting it with a big hammer, I think that is the whole point of paying someone to do it for me, coz I would expect something a bit more sophisitcated than just increasing the hammer size - I can do that myself! Whilst as a restorer/ mechanic I pretty much muddle through at best, I think I would probably make the worlds worst customer if I paid a 3rd party to restore a vehicle for me.... Tim
  18. Welcome... Nice part of the world. Had a very nice parapente trip there last summer, but boy that traffic!! Cheers Tim
  19. Very interesting and well done. I wonder how many people have walked past this over the years with no idea of the history behind it... Tim
  20. This thread is worth a read if you havent seen it. Definitive info seems very elusive... Cheers Tim http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?22989-CVR(T)s-in-Hong-Kong&highlight=Cvrt+hong+kong Super pic by the way!
  21. Adrian Sorry cant help with that but I do have a brand new Cav G7B24 dynamo, for the top of the engine if you ever need one..! Tim
  22. Still learning to edit so apologies for that. Took a while to make it go bang due to a problem with the main-off-coax selector switch. Although it looked like it the main gun was selected the switch was not fully engaged, which we realised just before giving up!
  23. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1953-H-Brindley-Pliers-Nippers-Summer-Lane-Moulded-Components-Jablo-Ad-/231414346506?pt=UK_Collectables_Advertising_ET&hash=item35e15eb30a Hmmm, I wonder...?
