I think only one sample of a Pershing was supplied before the end of the war. The Charioteer was designed and built for the specific purpose of giving Infantry Divisions an effective Anti-Tank defence until such time as the RAC had sufficient modern tanks to take on the heavy Russian Tanks. They were widely issued for a short time and the Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry was the divisional RAC Regiment for the 43rd Wessex Division.

I did wash mine whilst in service and subsequently froze the next time I used it with all the feathers clumping together in side.

Was this vehicle on a plinth at Leconfield at one stage. I seem to remember seeing when I was on a course.

Sounds like they were considered more of a liability than useful by this date. Not sure if they had different ratio's in the transmission to the Trucks to get more speed. I am looking for pictures of Daimler Armoured Car Mk11 91ZR36 in the unlikely event it is pictured in this book.

I would find it hard to believe that AEC Armoured Cars stayed in service past the mid 1950's but they may have still been in storage. Post war Armoured Car Regiments had a support Troop so a small number would have been allocated there. Recce Troops by then would have been Daimler Dingo's and Armoured Cars prior to the arrival of Ferrets.

It must have taken a very long time to get anywhere especially Germany in Matadors and Martians with an average speed of approx. 25 mph. When you consider that we manufactured over 1000 Bofors L70 for the Army and RAF most must have never been issued with the contraction of the army.

Not just airborne use and a lot of people ask silly prices for something which is not rare apart from in the condition Richard has. I remember dealers having them in crates at Beltring probably 30 years ago. You appear to be missing the air cleaner, end plates, exhaust and cover. Non-functioning and it that condition I would say no more than about £150.00 - £200.00.

From memory a similar set up to the Mk above. The chassis of the one I worked on was very corroded as they also used it for gritting and had not cleaned it after use.

On camps in the UK it was more usual to see TK's with Snow Ploughs.

Very nice. Sadly worth very little and when I had to clear my workshop a few years ago I scraped a post-war dated one of those. The BMB connection is interesting as it also appears on ONAN Generators supplied to this country as at the top of this thread. The most BMB were doing is assembling Generators on frames they were probably making.

£3000 for a good one with tripod is probably about average now and if you can someone willing to sell you an early deact quite possibly more.

Generators tend to be worth very little as they are not desrible on the collectors market. What do you do with it. If it was on its original trailer and you could guarantee it was working it might get into the very low thousands. As it stands scrap vale or for spares so £500 - £600. You may get more money advertising it on the stationary engine forums

Can't see why it should not be a stand alone vehiche but if it has steel tracks they are unlikely to let you damage their decks. I was on one trip where thay would not aloow a Carrier to drive on. If its being driven on they would no doubt expect it to be insured and possibly road registered.

A close up of any plates would be useful but that looks post-war. War-time ones are a bit more primative.

Barry Ring has obviously already had a lot of the redundant sizes / tread pattern tyres manufactured and hopefully other sizes will follow. Many of the more common sizes are still available but not in period tread patterns.

I believe the Royal Yeomanry LAD in Swindon had one into the late 70's if not early 80's.

There are very few original surviving NAAFI type vehicles so you may be better off making your own copy on a suitable chassis and cab. The most common surviving version over here on WW2 Austin chassis were converted post-war for Civil Defence purposes. We used to have a Salvationist in one of my reserve army units but his membership was frowned upon and eventually he left. You could do with a more period looking cap badge.

A lot of people now seem to be using Grease in the bevel Box's and hubs of Daimler dingo's and presumably Ferrets as well. Many seem to be using the 'Britpart One Shot Swivel Grease' which has replaced oil in the hubs of Land Rovers. Some pruducts to be semi-fluid and presumably self leveling so levels van be checked and other extreme pressure greases seem not to be. If I was to use a grease I would want to use the former as presumably without totally filling the casing with grease it coud be thrown out on to the walls of the box. I was informed this particular product of which there are others is the equivilant of the Britpart product and if it is not fluid enough it could be thined with SAE 140. Without further detail I think most people would asume that poster is a dealer. I have advertised here for 3 specific deacts for my collection as I would pay a lot more than a dealer would offer, but hopefully below the inflated prices of a dealer. Hence both parties gain.
