  2. From one Hampshire Hog to another, welcome in. I'm sure the others will be along in a mo. Although it's getting late for the UK members (I am tucked up bed with a camomile tea!)
  3. We were there. As usual we were part of the set dressing around by the VIP area (best to Stonehenge!) sadly we were all lined up ready to join the convoy when some ****** from Goodwood said it was to complicated for us to drive through the holding area and onto the track to join in!!!!!!!! Bitterly disappointed but we did hot foot it round to the start/finish line and watched you all drive past!!!! It was spectacular. Especially with the 2 lancs!!!!
  4. Huge congratulations Lauren and Chrissy. Love the cake topper, especially the my little pony!!!! XXXXXXXXXXXXX
  5. I grew up with Robin Williams always appearing in something, Mork and Mindy, Flubber, Hook, Mrs Doubtfire, Good Morning Vietnam, Jumanji, Aladdin (he was the Genie) and many more. When I first saw the news this morning I thought it was one of these sick jokes but sadly not. I actually cried. My thoughts go out to his family and friends. It does however show that mental illness is not just for common people, anyone can suffer from it. Even Robin Williams couldn't just 'buck up' and 'deal with it' just proves that the most happiest person on the outside is screaming for help in the inside
  6. Oh no that's dreadful news. Thinking of his family and hope he's safely home soon.
  7. I check as I eat my cornflakes and then a quick pop in at lunch time then in and out all evening!!

  11. I guess the lack of answers means its a no?!!:embarrassed:
  12. Many of you know I work in a preschool with 3-4 year olds. During the school holidays the setting turns into a holiday club and during these times different activities are put in. My boss has asked me if I could get hold of "an army man and a tank"! It's always nice to have different people come into the setting to chat with the children, at the moment we have a paramedic, a vet and a dentist. All it would involve is someone to pop in and chat to the children for 30-60 mins about being in the army with a vehicle which the children could look around. Is there anyone in here who could help in this or does anyone have details of someone I could get hold of? Edit:- Sorry I'm near Portsmouth!!!!! (Horndean)
  13. Saturday was going home day 😞 Luckily the rains stopped and we packed up in the dry. Thank you to all those who I chatted to, all the villagers who waved as we went through, to the Gendarmerie for looking do cool
  14. Friday night was storm night. My god I've never ever in all my (44) years ever experienced a thunder storm like the one we had that night. Hail, rain as heavy as you can get, lightening that lit up the night sky and thunder that rumbled, rolled and boomed across the sky for about 30 mins. Then the storm moved on but it sounded like the bombs going off and I think everyone who listened knew it must have been exactly one this 70 years ago. Creepy.
  15. Friday, the big day. Up at 0400. Roll out at 0445. With a chill in the air everyone's thoughts were with what had happened 70 years earlier. We arrived at Arromanches at about 0600 I think. We couldn't get on the beach as the tide was in. Once again my dad piped (an ambition of his) Eventually we were allowed on the beach at about 0700 and we all lined up. There were hundreds of vehicles and thousands of people The day got hotter and hotter and the atmosphere was awesome. Some lovely vehicles
  16. Thursday we headed out towards Omaha as Clive Stevens and Ed Abbot had organised a meet on the beach of as many GMCs as possible. Well we had 30 in total but not all at the same time. Photo care of Clive We also stopped of at the American Cemetery. There loads of Veterans there and I found it profoundly emotional. (eldest cubelet with a Vet who landed on the beach 6/6/44)
  17. On Wednesday we went onto Baron Sur Odon and hill 112. The villagers look after the Churchill on the monument on top of the hill 112. Me and hubby were members of the Solent MVT group who helped in the placing of the tank. It was great to see the tank again and to ferry the villagers about. We also visited a school for children with additional needs, they loved the vehicles and enjoyed being driven around by some of the drivers. The school fed us well, so many thanks to them for that. Unfortunately I don't have many pictures of this day as I used my dad's camera mostly.
